Dyson vacuums?

Do any of you know anything about the Dyson DC25? Does anybody have one? My dh can get a killer deal on one through his work and I'm wondering if we should go for it. I've got just a plain old vacuum that I got about 10 years ago, it still works and normally I don't get something new until the old one breaks. But this is such a good deal that I'm not sure I should pass it up. With our tax return and/or the economic stim $ we'd have plenty to get it.

I have a DC17 animal and love it. DH and I are incredibly frugal, but we had a moment of weakness with our $500 tax return last year and splurged. I'd rate it as one the best purchases we've ever made as far as value goes.

Ours is heavy, but your model has that cool ball thingie which looks easier to manuver. The wand feature is awesome - it's always attached ready to go plus it's super long. I cleaned my blinds and ceiling fans the other day with it.

Amazon has good reviews.

I have that one and it's awesome. I have 3 animals and two kids in my house and it gets it super duper clean. Totally would recommend it. Even my 4 year old loves to vacuum and does so successfully with it.

I have the animal one and it is the best vacuum ever. It has been 2 years since we got it and it still works like it is brand new.

Thanks! I think I'm talking myself into it.

I'm not sure of my model, but I love it.

My mom uses one for commercial cleaning (every day usage), and it still works great, even though it takes a lot of abuse. The few times she's had it serviced, Dyson has paid for it, including replacement parts, so the service is good.

I have the canester. I'm not sure of the model number. I love it! I sucks up everything. I don't find it any heavier than my old electrolux.

One thing that really impressed me. When we first got our vaccume home, I had a question and called the 800 #. I wasn't put on hold and a person answered the phone. I love that!

I have the purple one from Target. I love it!

The model you're looking at looks nice as well. I've had mine for, like 4 years now, still runs great. When we got it, I think they had the purple one and the yellow one and that's it.

I've got the DC 14 and use it at least 2 times a day with my daycare and I love it.

I have the animal, it's 4 years old, looks like it's been through a war, and works perfectly! We have been so happy with it, I plug it up on a weekly basis cleaning up children's messes, and I LOVE how with the Dysons you can take apart the vac very easily and remove anything that is stuck in there. Our hose broke last year, and Dyson overnighted us a new one.

LOVE our Dyson. Love love love it. Which, considering how much I dislike cleaning, is really saying something.

I've only had it for about 3 months now (we moved to a new house and I wanted to "start out" with a fresh vacuum) but it's staying on top of the renovation mess... pet hair, baby messes, the dust from the pellet stove, the mess from having walls/fiberglass insulation pulled down... it grabs it all. And it really doesn't lose suction and it's easy to empty.

So yeah, it's the most expensive cleaning product I've ever owned (it costs more than our washing machine ) but it has been worth every penny.

And like pp, I called the 1-800 number because DH had thrown out the guidebook and I couldn't figure out how to release the hose and a real person talked me through it right then and there. Now if only the power cord had an auto-retract. That's my only complaint.

I love love love this thing. I don't remember the model #. I bought it at Ssears. It's purple with wand that pulls up from the handle.

I seriously did not vacuum for months and months b/c I hated my other vacuum **gross**. Now I vacuum like every other day.The kithchen, the bathrooms. Heck I look for places to vacuum. It's a bit of an addiction.

Emptying IS a bit of a pain, but I like dusting my "baby" down after anyway, so I don't mind. I just love it when things actually work!

I have the DC17, on the ball, yellow. I love it! If you buy a dyson (and you should!), you ought to definitely get the Ball! It turns SO easily and gets into the greatest corners! It's soooooooooooooooo nice! WELL worth the money!

I am such a cheapskate, but my DH talked me into the Dyson Animal about 2 yrs ago. I have never once regretted spending the money. It sucks so well and is so easy to unclog too.

DH found a referb on Woot. It should be here today I think he got it for pretty much 1/2 price.

If you are going to get a new vaccuum, definitely get a Dyson. We have the D15 (the purple animal ball) and it is fantastic. My DBF actually likes to vaccuum. We have two large dogs and it sucks up hair like you wouldn't believe.

I strongly believe that it is cheaper to buy quality the first time around, rather than having to buy it twice.

I know there are some cyclone knockoffs coming out by different manufacturers, but I don't know if they are any good. I do expect to be using our Dyson for years and years.

Thanks everybody! I think we might just splurge on this. I hate to vacuum but with a fun new toy that works really well, I might just learn to love it.

I have the yellow dyson, and I agree with some of the other posters in saying that vacuuming has become something of an obsession.

I almost bought one a couple of weeks ago, but didn't. And I still hate my current vaccuum with the most absolute passion.

Where is my 'tax relief?" :

I have the exact one that you posted the link to, OP. It cleans like a DREAM. The only thing I'd change about it is the hand tool and the way it comes out. It's a little awkward. The other thing is the cord, it doesn't retract, it's the kind that you have to wind yourself.

But not needing bags and having a nice, clean floor?
