What's the best colon cleansing program?

Just when I think I've found the best colon cleansing formula, I come across negative reviews of what I thought was my newly found miracle product. Some of them are a lot of money so I'd like to minimize my chances of buying something that doesn't work. Anyone have an experience that they'd like to share? Has anyone used the lemonade diet? The Almighty Cleanse? How about Herbal FiberBlend? I see these pictures of the long "ropes" that come out of people's bodies and it's amazing. I want to try that!!

I love all the products by Dr Richard Schulze. Did his colon cleanse a few times. His Superfood is awesome and Echinacea amazing. All his stuff works.

I've done a few...the Lemonade diet is more of just a general cleanse, not so much a colon cleanse. I did do a 3-month colon cleanse, and it was AWESOME. It was by Dr Natura http://www.drnatura.com. I did both the Colonix and Toxinout programs for 3 months. I expelled visible parasites and eggs, as well as the "ropes" that you talk about. Looks like chicken livers in a sausage casing. Unbelieveable!! I was shocked because I've been doing cleanses of various sorts since my mid-teens (my parents were very health-conscious growing up!), and I was only 25 at the time, yet got literally yards of ropey ick out of my body. I highly recommend it!

Hehehe! Thanks! I was a bit skeptical at first with the whole Dr Natura program, but then decided after looking at all of the ingredients in all of the components that it was worth a shot. It was definitely worth it! I know it seems a bit expensive, but it's a good, thorough cleanse. Colon cleanses that only last a week or a month aren't really very effective. It took years for everything to build up...makes sense that it would take a while to get it out. I was planning on doing it for more like 4-5 months, but I then I found out I was pregnant, and cleansing isn't a good idea while preggo. Now that I've had the baby, I want to start back on the fiber part of the plan (not the whole thing, just making shakes out of the fiber), but I have to clear it with my midwife to make sure the herbs that are in the fiber mix are O.K. while bfing.

OMGosh- I was going to say this!!

I became a vegetarian last week and am transitioning to vegan already... I've never been this *clean* in my life- even when I did a full colon cleanse!! I've "evacuated" at least 3 times a day in the last couple days!! It feels soo good to see all those nasty toxins and chemicals they feed the animals go right down the toilet!!

Starshine - is this cleanse safe to do while breastfeeding? I really want to scrub out my intestines but don't want to release toxins into my system while nursing... It's kind of frustrating because for the next 8 years or so, I'm always going to be either nursing or pregnant, so most cleanses are off-limits for me.

Edit - oops, found the answer on the Colonix site. What a drag.

Should a pregnant or nursing woman do internal cleansing?

Internal cleansing/detoxification is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. A fetus or newborn baby should not be exposed to the toxins eliminated from the mother’s body while cleansing. The mother should wait until her baby is weaned completely.

I was actually veggie for 3 years and vegan for 2. Now I'm a "flexitarian"...hahaha...I can't remember the last time I had red meat...occasional chicken or fish, but mostly eggs as far as protein. But I still eat lots of veggie food (I actually sneak TVP into my DH's food and the doesn't even know it!), make fresh juices, etc. Organic everything. It's true, though, that being vegan will make a huge difference in your life AND your bowel! Seriously, though...if you're not going to go veggie/vegan any time soon, Dr Natura is really a good cleanse and totally worth it! As was previously posted, it is not safe while bfing...but I'm going to ask them and my midwife if it's safe to just do the fiber, not the rest of the cleansing stuff. I love the fiber in a smoothie!

My DH is interested in doing the Colonix cleanse now. Do you guys know whether it really has to be done for 3 months, or would he get good results just doing it for 2? (Finances are tight.) Also, does he need to do both programs at once? (Colonix + Toxinout)
