Thank you Alice I'm all excited now

Smoothies was the only way I could get it down.

Thanks for the great info Alice! I'm going to give it a try. Has anyone tried the capsules? Any reason to believe they wouldn't be as effective?
I thought with the capsules, you would have to take so many to equal 2 tablespoons (is that the regular dose? I'm forgetting now) that it would end up being way less cost effective. Another thing I would be concerned about would be the quality of cheap maca root, if there were fillers added, etc... that is easier to do in capsules, then in a powder form, I believe anyway.

The info said you had to take like 12-15 capsules to get the recommended amount.

Did I read somewhere that this can bring on a period (like if you'd been 3 months without one?)

The one I was going to order was this - http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/e...jsp?id=N7-1001. This is the Navitas Naturals brand which comes highly recommended on Amazon. I can't imagine they'd put fillers in the capsules. 3 capsules=1500mg, which I believe is on the low end of a serving. Wasn't the recommended serving 1500mg-3000mg? Can't remember where I read that.

Just ordered mine! Can't wait to get it!!! Dh will love that a "side effect" is supposed to be higher libido - like I need more while ovulating! Ooh this is great - I'm really excited!!!

I take it and just thought i would add don't mix the powder with yogurt There is somthing in the yogurt that make it taste SO bad and i usally don't mind the taste. I mix my with a smoothie or slimfast shake (don't flame me i know it is bad)

Yes, Sk8ermaiden... it's supposed to help regulate the whole endocrine system, therefore helping regulate menstrual cycles as well.

That is the effect I am hoping to acheive, as I am almost at 4 months without a period.

Once I get there, then full speed ahead with TTC!

Anyone have recomendations on Smoothie recipes? Do you just get some fruit and milk in a blender?

I tried mixing the Maca with chocolate milk today... I saw no difference from the juice. lol

Does anyone knoww...is there an age limit for this use?

I was wondering if I can just throw some in like say.....a pot of spaghetti. is it safe for everyone?
or is this just something for DH & I?

DP was taking maca in a fertility supplement with lots of other stuff when we got pg.

I just ordered some! I'm so excited....feeling very optimistic about it. I ordered the capsules because I know myself and this is the only way I'd take it regularly. I'm thinking 4 capsules a day and some for DH as well.

I can just turn this thread into 'TTC with Maca' if enough people are interested (change the title & my first post) since it already has lots of info in it.

Hmmmm, this thread has been thinking about using Maca from the start of when I start to TTC #3.... Bfing greatly impacts my fertility, DD1 was 2.5y and I had never had AF return. I successfully used Vitex to induce AF back but then still struggled to get pg until I finally used Maca the next year.

I know AF won't return before DD2 is 2y, I had planned on using Vitex to get my period back then start maca once AF was back. I wonder if I should just use vitex and maca together from the beginning? I'd really be thankful if those who are planning on using it and are not having regular AF will keep in touch on this thread.

When I made my "maca" smoothies, I used ice, frozen fruit, fruit juice, maca, and a greens powder, it was quite tasty.

That would be pretty neat!!! I'm still waiting for mine to come in the mail. They said 3-8 days: so...I wait. Maybe on your first post you can have a running list of who is where & doing what etc. kinda like the 1st page of """the one thread""" just a thought.
I'm so excited though. Can't wait to see what it can do for DH & I
How long have you been taking it?? Notice anything????

I like the idea of tracking individuals. We can do our own MDC Maca scientific study .

Mother's Love ~ I'm going to be watching you too! My delivery will be 8-10 days

Now, I need to figure out my angle on how I get DH to take it

Do you guys want the list of participants split up like in the One Thread, or just have our names with the dates we started taking maca & then a list of BFPs?

Edited to add: I think the latter might be easiest! We can also indicate whether it's just you that is taking it, both partners, or just your DP.

I just found this:

Can I give Maca to my children?

Maca has been taken as a staple food in the diets of Native Peruvians for thousands of years. It has proven to be very safe and it is very beneficial for children.
