I started taking maca yesterday am excited about the group! Please add me too!
maefair/Christina, started Maca 2 Tbsp/day 3/21/08.

I started looking into natural supplements because I went off BCP and started TTC on 1/3/08 and haven't seen AF since 12/20/07. I don't know if I am ovulating yet, but will add a link to my chart in a few. My husband isn't taking it, just me. I am so excited to join you guys!

How caloric is the Maca Powder? Is it mostly protein? Carbs? just curious.

Serving Size of 2 tsp.
Calories 22
Calories from Fat 2
Total Fat 136 mg
Saturated Fat 52 mg
Cholesterol 0 mg
Sodium 2.5 mg
Potassium 125 mg
Total Carbohydrates 3.8 g
Dietary Fiber 510 mg
Sugars 1.4 g
Protein 670 mg

Note however that 2 tsp is below the normal recommended dosage... so you may need to multiply this to see what you're actually getting.

does anyone have experience with the gelatinized powder vs the regular raw powder? i know it's a bit more expensive, but if there's a big difference in taste/palatability i might have to splurge just to insure that dh will be more willing to take it

Can you buy the root itself and eat it??? I don't do shakes and stuff like that.

That, I don't know - I have only ever seen it sold powdered.

Well according to FedEx my maca was supposed to be here yesterday, but the package never came! I'm guessing that means it will be here on Monday... hopefully!

Hey all...
I have this raw protein powder stuff that is a Maca/Hemp/Flax mix. I ate some probably only 5 times in the first half of my cycle, but I think it might have been at least a part of why I ovulated earlier than usual. Day 16 instead of day 21-24.
I'm not sure if we were able to time right to get pregnant, but I guess we'll see!

I don't have any experience with the raw powder, even though I should be getting mine in the mail in the next few days, but I bought the capsule kind about 4 days ago and find that it has no taste. My dh takes it as soon as I give it to him and I don't have the reaction I have when I take my prenatals (yuck). Of course, it's only been a few days so I'm not sure that it has any effect either. I am, however, really hopeful. I can't wait to see what happens as the weeks pass.

Made a smoothie with the Maca on Friday... so much better. It seems half way decent in Orange Juice too. I've noted banana flavored things help a lot.

Temps are still even compared to earlier on my chart... this is a positive thing. Hoping something of note happens soon.

I tried Maca for awhile, but found that it worsened my already low blood pressure. Maybe I should have taken it with salt to counter all the potassium?

I could be better. I am still having some weird bright red spotting that makes me worry that I do have a cyst or fibroid, and I'm also really concerned that losing my job & thus my health insurance will impact my ability to treat these potential problems. It is a lot on my plate right now... I'm just hoping that answers will come and times will get better soon. Thanks for asking.

Oh, Alice! I'm so sorry about the job! That is a lot on your plate right now... stress can do some CRAZY things... so maybe that is even affecting the spotting.

I hope things calm down and sort out in your life so you can TTC stress-free.

My maca came today & I was sooo excited!!! Until I tasted it
I put just a teasponn in some soda & it was gross! Then when I gaged it down I saw most of it was still on the bottom!! I didn't even get it all down. Then I say to myself....I have to do this 5 more times today????...lol.Poor me!!!(okay, I'm done now heee-heee)


A Mothers Love is trying real real hard to get dowm 2 TBS a day. Going to try to get DH to *at least do 1 TBS a day

I'd like to join in with this one too, although I still have to order the maca - which I'll do shortly! Just a question - is maca considered OK to take with soy isoflavone? I'm going to poke around online now and see if I can find an answer but just thought I'd throw it out to you guys as well!

Also, any of you ladies UK based and found a good supplier?

Alice - sorry to hear about your job situ, just wanted to let you know the same happened me almost exactly a year ago and I felt like my whole life would collapse - a year on, self employed and loving it! Just wanted to share, so you know it can work out! Love your jewellery! Do you do any kinda artwork for products / would you conisder doing it? Just one of the companies I do some work with has just launched in the US and will probably be looking for artists.
