What has your dc done lately that made you SOOO proud?

Okay. As above. What's a big thing your kid did lately that just made you warm inside?

Today dd's school put on their third and final performance of the play. She plays a woman named Marjorie who basically wanders around town looking for scandals with her friend. It's a smallish part, but she did so well, and it made me happy to see her.

So what are your stories, mamas?

My 12 yr old DS just got student of the month at his school.

My son (13 yrs old) was invited to participate in a regional MathCounts competition, which would have meant a whole day out of school. He has been sick a lot this year, and told his math teacher that he didn't think he should miss another day.

Briar is student of the month, made honor roll, and has been picked to play basketball in the Youth Friendship Games in Austria. Grayson won 2nd place in the school State Float Parade and made honor roll.

I LOVE to see when kids start to "really think" and take personal responsibility. It amazes me sometimes how well they think things through! And that is so awesome that he was invited to the Math Counts comp!

10 year old dd is in a play tomorrow night!

6 year old dd helped take care and be super kind to my mom, who has cancer. My mom commented on her kindness.

dd made us a beautiful dinner (for 9) last night - including blackberry cobbler.

Ds and I both work at a large arena and have been working a lot lately because of a major event. Ds worked 8-noon on Saturday morning, and I worked later on in the day, so ds went shopping and picked up milk and soup, made his own lunch and made sure there was something quick to eat when I got home.

My 21-year-old daughter will be graduating from college in two months!

My 13-year-old son just competed in a regional MathCounts event. He was offered academic scholarships to two private high schools and has decided to attend a public science/math magnet school. He has been selected to play clarinet in a regional classic band competition & is performing in the lead role of the 8th grade play.

My 13-year-old daughter was offered an academic scholarship to a private high school and will be taking honors classes there. She has also been selected to play clarinet in the regional classic band competition & is performing in a principal role in the 8th grade play.

My 9-year-old daughter soaks up everything she learns and is an outstanding math and science student. She will be singing in a concert at a local university next month.

Grayson was drafted to the Minors in Little League! He was a Rookie last year so he is over the moon about being drafted up!

OH! This is a better place to post this obnoxious thought-- I'll go edit the other.

My two youngest are just a bit over 5 years apart in age, and they are so adorable together I can't take it. My 14 yr old goes to school (the 15 and 8 yr old are hs'd), but he's on vacation for two weeks. He has the lead in the school play and last night my youngest was helping him learn his lines. She was reading all the parts but his...it's amazing to watch them together. She's so supportive and proud of him, and he's so supportive of her efforts to help him. They are right now playing chess together, and earlier all 4 of my kids were watching The Bee Movie *again* on the sdofa, all squashed togehter. (My oldest is on break from college this week). Yesterday, the oldest picked up his sister (almost 4 yrs younger) early from track practice so he could watch her run.

So here I have kids of vastly different ages (19 down to nearly 9) being so fab together and having such special relationships together. Last night, the youngest and the oldest were painting the cottage bathroom together.

Dh and I were listening to the 14 and 8 yr olds work together on the paly last night and I think our hearts were nearly melting out of chests. We were like "What on earth have we done to deserve this?"

If you actually read this whole stupid post, thanks. It's sickening and I know it. I just don't know what to do with myself about this feeling.

My 17 yo dd made director in her "Video Production" class at school. Which is a big thing, since that's what she wants to be "when she grows up".

I love all of these posts. My 20 year old DD is second year college having taken a year off between. She is getting solid 92 ranges and has been indoctrinated into the honors club or whatever it's called. She is involved with helping students with disabilities like herself and will be an RA next semester.

my oldest is #2 in her high school class.
my 14 year old is on the track team and doing well.
my 6 year old finished homeschool first grade 2 weeks ago, and is reading on a fourth grade level.
my 3 year old shows compassion when people feel sick. I am so impressed by that.

This is a great idea, especially when i've spent so much time thinking about the things my preteen doesn't do

First: She was one of 8 kids choosen from her school to participate in an all city chorous.

Second: This is more of a how cute moment.... She was really sick with the flu yesterday and at one point she turned to me and said " Thank you for takeing care of me, mom" After all the "You sucks" it was very nice to hear that she liked something I do!

My oldest DS works for IBM making a great salary and supports his family so his wife can stay home and "unschool" my grandson.
My second son will be graduating from college this year, but will continue to go to school for the foreseeable future since he wants to teach at the college level in History.
My daughter is perfect (ha); married with a job, she also teaches at my performing arts studio and will be singing professionally tonight.
My niece is finishing up her first year of college with straight A's and is on the Dean's Honor Roll.
My youngest son started college a year before his high school buddies (thank you, homeschooling!) and gets up at 3:30 a.m. for a job at the YMCA before heading to class at 8:30 a.m.

the most recent events that have made me proud are sad ones, but I'll share nonetheless

My dad passed away this past Thursday (the 20th). He had been sick in the hospital for a week. He was in bed the whole time, able to respond to us for a few days and then unresponsive the last 3 days before he died. Both of my kids...ds (age nearly 16) and dd (age 14) went to visit him though it was heartbreaking and talked to him, kissed him, and loved him. It made me very proud that they loved him more than they feared seeing him that way.

My dd spent time with me and my sister at my dad's bedside the night he passed. Up til an hour before he went we were there hugging him, kissing him and talking to him. It makes me proud that she was there with us, letting him know that he is very very loved.

My son was a pallbearer at dad's funeral. Son looked handsome in his black suit with his long hair all clean and brushed. My dad would have been proud, too.

My oldest DD (13) won first place at her school's spelling bee, and placed 4th at the state level. Chip off the ol' block, that one is! She's already studying to win 1st at State next year to advance to the Nationals. **SO PROUD**
