I'm so sick and tired of dealing with doctors!

Rant ahead!

So if it were my choice, my kids would only see the doctor in the most extreme circumstances, like if they broke a limb or had a severe infection. Unfortunately now my life is nothing BUT doctors and it sucks. There's really nothing I can do but take Charlie and hope they don't freak out and try to lecture me about my parenting choices. I've already heard it all...I'll kill my kid if I co-sleep, she'll get horrible diseases and die without her vaxes, I HAVE to give her enfamil poly-vi-sol w/iron or she'll become severely mal-nourished. It's just one thing after another but this one takes the cake.

My 5 month old can no longer thrive on breastmilk alone and we have to put pureed baby food into her feeding tube. Are you freaking kidding me?!

Our nurse said that all the kids she's taken care of before were on formula and formula ONLY until about 1-2 years, when they were switched to a more advanced formula (assuming they were mostly or exclusively tube-fed). So I want to know, what do they think breastmilk is lacking? It's BETTER than fomrula, but they are acting like it's not as nutritious. I'm so pissed off.

I've worked my butt off pumping for my kid and they would love nothing more than to keep discouraging me until I fail.

So now, even though I KNOW breastmilk is JUST FINE for a year and probably much longer, I have to go research and print stuff off to take to her next appt so they don't try to accuse me of trying to kill my daughter. Again. Ugh. :

Oh and she's 17 lbs and in the 75% for weight and has stayed on that curve since birth. Yeah, she's just SO malnourished.

Hmmm... guess they haven't heard of the AAP guidelines that say nothing but breastmilk for the first 6 months...

Don't let them get you down. Arm yourself with research, and even better - ask them to provide research that backs up their "recommendations"!

Congratulations with your pumping - that can be really hard and you deserve tonnes of praise for it!

It's the calories, not the nutrients. Because breastmilk changes from woman to woman and from day to day it doesn't work well for their intention to keep perfect track of calories taken in and to fiddle with caloric density to maintain an ideal rate of gain. The thinking goes that breastmilk is best ... until you have to chart it; then it becomes an unforgiveable variable.

years ago when I worked in special ed, for medically fragile children, the little guy I cared for was tube fed. When all the other tube fed children were getting "formula" or pediasure, he was getting nice warm pureed food from home. Every morning his mom pureed his meals and put them into a thermos. She also sent milk to we could mix it to a thinner consistency so it would go down since we used a gravity feed. The Dr.s and therapists thought she was nuts not to take the easy way out and just give him pediasure, but she KNEW that he needed a more well balanced diet.

Go with you gut, if your LO is thriving, and gaining, then you KNOW breastmilk is just fine!

I'm sorry you have to deal with people like this. I just wanted to say Wow! and Good job! for pumping for your little one who sounds like she needs mommy milk even more than most babies.
