I had pre-labor the night of the 12th after my 39w mw appt where she said my cervix "still has a long way to go" 
... so DH & I walked 3 miles that evening! 
This being my 1st I wasn't sure the ctx were "it" and though I couldn't sleep I didn't expect anything to come of it. It petered out by morning but at 3:15pm to my great surprise my water broke! Ctx started soon after - similar to pre-labor - and we made plans to meet my mw at the birth clinic. At 6:30pm I was at 2 but still very firm so we all thought I had a long way to go - by 9pm I hadn't progressed much but ctx were becoming painful so I got in the tub... and didn't get out for 4 hours... when to my surprise & relief (I had mentally prepared for a 20hr labor!) I was at 10 and ready to push! Transition was pretty tough and I did have an "I can't do this anymore" moment. Pushing went well and fast -just one tiny stitch - but poor baby had his short cord 2x around his neck tied together/crossed and pulled tight - mw cut it before his shoulders could be born. Poor thing had no more cord but wasn't breathing yet - but he started making noise, wiggling and finally crying pretty fast.
Anyway all's well that ends well he's absolutely perfect and is nursing great! We're totally in 
and happy to be home with him Picture
