Netflix--yeah or nay?

Does anyone use Netflix? I am wondering what your thoughts are.
If there is already a thread on this topic, I'd greatly appreciate a link.
I'm thinking we might want to try it--especially with small kids: renting a movie at the video store that requires a two-day turn around means watching it in the middle of the night...and I've found that more than half the time, I don't get to watch it all because I never know what the day will bring.
Would Netflix be a good idea with a crazy schedule? The only thing I keep thinking is: no late fees.

I love Netflix. The three video stores in my area closed, so I've really been using it more. No late fees is great! I find really fast turnaround - 2-3 days. I started on the trial plan and I think I've bumped us up to the 3 at a time unlimited which is under $20 for the month and we get to watch lots of movies. It has been great for the winter.

Also, there are a bunch of really neat indie films and documentaries I never would have checked out.

We love it for our truly crazy, hectic life!!

And, hey, you can get The Business of Being Born!!!!!!!!!!

Love it, everything about it. Movies right to your house, no time limit (though if you want your money's worth it makes sense to watch your movie within a couple days and get it in the mail), you can get pretty much ANYTHING you want ..the variety is unbelievable.

I do feel a little bad that all the little video stores are going out of business and Netflix certainly isn't helping with that, but the selection in those stores was always so awful in my area and it sucks to have to use gas just to return a movie to avoid late fees.

Another "YAY" vote for Netflix here. We love it.

There have been other threads on it, but I think the outcome is overwhelming in the Yay camp.

FWIW- we have the bare minimum plan and we're happy with it.

We've been members (and happy ones) since 2002. In that time, occasionally we can't get a movie we want, occasionally we receive a damaged disk, and occasionally one gets lost in the mail or takes a while to arrive -- but the overall convenience has been worth the cost to us. We can have three at a time.

A strong YAY here.

We have been off an on users of Netflix for years. We always went back to Netflix after trying out other entertainment options. We tried the blockbuster plan but they kept changing the plan and cost. We borrowed from the library. We tried HBO and Showtime, our local rental place but after every switch we went back to Netflix.

Netflix is especially cool now that they have the watch now feature. We hook the laptop to the TV and watch! Granted there are some compatibility issues and having a good internet connection helps, but it is awesome to be able to put a movie on whenever.

I have not had any complaints about Netflix.

The "little video stores" in our area are Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. So far, I like it okay.

I love it! Our local video store has nothign but crappy horror movies. I love that it comes to my door, has no late fee, and can be taken by the mail man. I don't even watch movies that often, but I have enjoyed renting tv shows, documentaries, etc. and getting kids stuff. Yes TV isn't ideal for kids, but it's become a necessary evil in limited quantities around here, esp. at baby's naptime. We canceleld cable so they enjoy some of the old noggin faves, as well as the sholastic book-to-video stuff. I like that you can pay a lot less and just have 1-3 at a time as well. It's super cheap then!

i LOVE my netflix!

We love it. Our kids have seen all sorts of really cool foreign films and old shows from my childhood and fun movies. The turnaround is very quick for us and when there's been a problem, a few times there have been unplayable, broken discs, they've gotten a replacement disc to us right away.

We have plans to get it soon.

I was about to cancel it --mostly due to time restrictions and a newly walking babe, but then I found the watch it now instant thing, saw the Business of Being Born, and still have yet to cancel. I really really like that I can watch a bit of a film, and if it blows, I can just quit watching it and not have to worry, ohhhh, I won't have another movie for a few days....

Definitely!

Totally worth it (and I'm a cheapskate!).

I've been using Netflix for almost 5 years now and am very pleased. In all that time, I've only had issues is recently when I got routed to a brand new distribution center, my movies were taking forever to get out, the movies I wanted were never available. I called to complain, customer service was wonderful, listened to me, wanted to talk to a manager, called me back to explain certain issues that center was having, and gave me a large credit on my account. The vast majority the time, my movies are shipped very quickly, they have anything you can possibly think of, any DVD's that have been damaged (very few for how many I've rented) are replaced out very quickly.

I love it. It saves me time and energy going to the movie place and remembering when the movies need to go back and there's way more selection.

Yea! Love it!

I think there was a post up in the television board (subforum to this one) a few months ago. There were a couple fairly minor negatives mentioned in that one, if I remember correctly.

We have had netflix for about a year and a half, and for the most part I love it. My only problems with it are that sometimes it takes WAY too long to get movies (we are very close to a distribution center). It can sometimes take over a week for the turnaround. People on the other thread had complaints about that. My other issue is how they decide who gets new releases that have a long wait. When we were new members, it seemed like we got new releases immediately, even if it said there would be a very long wait. After about 6 months, it seemed like we fell to the bottom of the list or something. It can take weeks for us to get new releases now. I never actually write the times down, I am just going off my impressions.

Those are my only complaints - not huge deals, but somewhat annoying!

Netflix is an awesome thing and really worth it. Especially if you watch films quite a bit. You can basically get anything on there. I had it when I lived in America and I think that is what I miss most. It's so easy. No late fees and all you have to do is stick it in the post when you're done! I highly recommend it.
