Sling obsession/addiction

So my dd has really taken to the sling I bought...to the point where she will sleep for hours in it during the day...but if I take her out and put her in her crib, our bed or a bouncy chair, she wakes within minutes...
I didn't use a sling with my ds, so I have no idea if this is normal, but my back is killing me
Anyone else have a similar situation??

Totally normal! Sometimes I can take the sling off over my head and lay him in a bouncy seat still in it. He stays asleep pretty well that way. If not, a good tight swaddle might do the trick. Other than that I just hold him. He loves it, I love it, it works.

I could have written your post!
Ocean is fussy unless she's eating or I'm wearing her. I've been wearing her in a baby bjorn that I borrowed from my sister that I hate. Not only is it ugly, but it kills my back
I do have an Ergo but I haven't figured out how to wear it with the infant insert and a fleece pouch but she's "lost" in it & it's not comfortable for extended wear.
I'm looking into getting a Beco butterfly carrier in a couple of weeks when they become available again. It looks like it's as comfortable as an Ergo and it has a built-in infant insert
What have you been using for a carrier? The Ergo & Beco distribute the weight so that most os on your waist/hips so your back isn't getting all of it.

Make sure that the sling fabric is really spread well over your back and pulled down over your shoulder and that the top rail is adjusted so the babe is as close to you as possible - when any of those things are out of whack my back starts bothering me.

get a moby! i had a baby bjorn with dd that gave me the worst back aches. i can wear ds around forever while he sleeps and no pain. actually, a friend of mine just bought me about 6-7 yards of stretchy jersey cotton ... works great and it's alot cheaper.

nak

i'm going to buy a vanatai (sp?) or a calin blue because the sling is not cutting it for me. and the wraps seem to work better for long periods of time. i also think that you need to make sure the fabric is spread across your back and pulling down on your shoulder not you collar bone area.

though if i wear her and keep her in it when i set her doewn she'll stay asleep. it didn't work that way for ds but linnaea seems easier all around.

check out lemonbalmessentials.com (or org?) for lots of wrap type carriers.

The sling itself isn't the problem (love our sling...). It's the requirement of my dd to be slung at all times...or is she's awake she wants to be carried high up on my shoulder so she can see whats going on. That's whats causing the issue.
I guess I'm just not used to it, my ds was content to sit in his bouncy seat and watch me cook...
I will try and put her down when she's sleeping IN the sling, but for some reason that only works at night, not during the day.
Maybe it's just a phase...

Thanks PlayaMama, my dh came up with the name as a combination of my name (Danielle) and his grandfather (Nelson)...I've found people either love it or don't like it at all...

Exact same problem.. except i also have to be moving or swaying too!
Baby bjorn or boob is required most of the day. At least she's not inconsolable
