How amazing! Still too soon for me as a first timer to feel much of anything, though I'm so happy you're feeling your babe! That is so exciting!

That would be amazing! I can't wait to feel this little booger move. It's going to be an incredible experience. I hope I'm just laying out on the beach or something when he/she decides to let me know they're there!

I found a rockin bikini on Due Maternity that I'm definitely going to get... here is the link:

Smokin' Hot Swimsuit :-)

I can't wait to get sundresses, cute shorts, the whole lot...ahh I see a lot of fun shopping in my near future. This is definitely going to be our last vacation for a looooooong time, so we're going to make the most of it!!!

Baby Cakes: where are you going in HI? My Dh is from Oahu and we went there lastyear for a BIG Luau for our daughter's first birthday. We spent 10 daysthere I LOVED it.

Well, I'll be 12 weeks along on Wednesday. Are we considering 12 weeks "out of the gate"? I have read 14 weeks in one book and 13 weeks in another. I'm close anyway. My due date is 10/01/08, so I must be one of the earlier ones in the group. I'll go a bit over that, don't worry- I always do!

M/S comes and goes, but is much more bearable now. I am sleepier than ever in the evenings. I had a m/w appt. last Wednesday and let her listen to the hb with the doppler way too long. I'm feeling sad about that, since I teach that we should minimize ultrasound exposure. I don't know how long, but since we couldn't hear a hb, she was trying to "chase" the baby out from under the pelvic bone. Finally did it and we heard a strong 160's hb. I was grateful for that! Since I was 11 weeks, I was feeling worried not to hear anything.

I did believe I was having twins (from a series of dreams and what I thought were signs), but we only heard 1 hb. Plus, I'm not showing much - just bigger in the belly (hard belly) right now. I guess I can accept one healthy baby - what a blessing! I still have no idea what I'm having. With my previous 3 pregnancies I had vivid dreams telling me the gender right away. I never doubted and knew each time what I was having. It confuses me to have no intuition now - and scares me a little. Still, I feel secure that the baby is healthy. Perhaps I'm just learning a lesson in faith. Anyone else clueless?

I thought I felt a flutter the other night, but decided it must be gas. I didn't know you could feel them at 11 weeks. This is my 4th pregnancy, but I never felt the others until around 19-20 weeks. I still am not sure that's what it was.

Personally I'm saying 12w1d is into the 2nd trimester. According to this site, my 2nd trimester begins this weekend, right at 12w1d:

Trimester Calculator

I read as soon as you start your 13th week you're in that 2nd trimester, so I'm going with it!

Bayleesan
- we are going to Oahu! We're flying into Honolulu and staying on Oahu for a week or so, and then flying to the big island for the rest of the trip. Any tips or great things to see on Oahu besides Pearl Harbor and some beaches (b/c so far that's all we have planned)? If you know any secrets, fill me in!! We haven't decided where we are staying yet - we are looking at vacation rentals/condos right now.

Super cute suit Baby Cakes!!! I know I'm gonna need to get a suit since DH and I spend every weekend at our neighborhood pool. Although, I don't think I'll be as brave as you and get a bikini!

I always thought the 2nd tri started at 13w. My pregnancy calendar says my 2nd tri starts on April 11 and that's 13w. So, the 1st tri would go through 12w6d. But, by the time you get to 12wks, I think you're pretty good. Congrats to those that are there! That's very exciting for our DDC to be getting more "safe"!

I consider 12 weeks the start of 2nd trimester.

I can't wait until we are all safe and sound in the 2nd trimester. And hopefully you poor sick mamas will catch a break and start feeling better!

On Oahu:
Hanauma Bay is a must see!
Just drive thru the North Shore. My Dh is from Haleiwa, it's the cutest little crunchy town, there is a great BBQ place right in the center of town, a nice beach just over in Waialua that is on a bay so good for letting ittle ones swim at. Here is a map: http://www.osman1.com/area-web/ns-n.html
Sunrise on Wakiki is one of the best experinces I have ever had in my life.
And the Byodo-In Temple at Valley of The Temples is just beautiful.

We stayed at The Queen Kapiolani Hotel which is two blocks from Wakiki beach, but way way way less expensive than the big chain hotels. It was $120 a night for our penthouse suite, not amazing suite, but it did have a little kitchen. I was more intrested in the beach than the hotel! Andthere was a Starbucks on the way to the beach with the most amazing cinnamon buns ever.

On The Big Island:
Lava Tree State park
Hawaii National Volcano State Park - is currently active and spewing into the ocean
Queen Lilly O'Kalni's Gardens on Banyan Tree road in Hilo is really mellow, there is a great family park beach down the street, but thats where most of the Hilo hotels are so you will probablly be staying around there.

We have Family on the Big Island in Pahoa (which is a cute little town!) so we did not do as much touristy stuff.

Brenda at Brenda's Big Island Travel set us up with everything, she is a freind of my SIL's. This is her info as per the internet: Brenda's Big Island Travel Po Box 6740, Hilo, HI 96720. (808) 966-6528 (808) 640-3761 (877) 966-6528 (toll-free) brendasbigislandtravel msn.com

Jord - sucks that you thought the movie stunk! I wanted to go see that! Was it just boring or were the voices not convincing or something?
That is awesome! I am *so* jealous lol! I have never been to Hawaii b4 but I hope you have tons of fun!!!

Ooooh and I *love* the bikini. I always loved showing off my bump last time. You never found me in a tankini

And according to your trimester calc I start 2nd on the 25th... awesome! Other one I checked said A[ril 1st... Either way, getting super close!

Yes, I forgot. Babycakes- LOVE that bikini and I think you'll look great in it!
Well, I'm 8w 1d! Seems like the 1st trimester is going to go by so slowly. And I am so ready for the ms to GO AWAY! I feel so awful. But I know it will pass. . . I just wish I felt better and it passed faster lol

Baby Cakes, I have been to HI 2X and it is my favorite place to visit. You will have so much fun - even pregnant! The 2nd time I went with my 5 yo, 4yo, and 3 month old and it was the best vacation ever. Flight was a killer from CT though.

Jora, I liked Horton, but I'm a big sucker for cartoons. Plus I like Jim Carey & Steve Carell.

Oh and I just finished a Reeses Pieces sundae my dh brought home for me. Figures that goes down smooth. . .

I dug out my xsmall maternity, which is still too big, but anything tight on my tummy makes me want to puke.

i dont know about being out of the 1st trimester yet...i will feel alot better in a week. it is nice to be 12 weeks finally though.

i havent been feeling as nauseous lately but have still been feeling tired. im making some pregnancy tea w/ all kinds of herbs tonight and hope to start drinking it tomorrow (at least a liter a day). Its a bummer that we have to fly, though...b/c i cant think of a way to get any down for me and we are going to be gone at least 5 days. argh!!

im trying to plan our trip but every time i turn around, there is some other "issue" with traveling while prego ALONE w/ a toddler! im not worried once we are in a car but the plane trip down with luggage and the carseat is making my head explode!!!

i haven't made another appt. w/ my MW that im seeing for prenatal care. i promised my partner I would before leaving but I really don't want to see her. The baby is fine..im pretty sure i am feeling flutters. I don't really want to be poked! lol!

I decided that I am not going to see the MW here again. I just didnt get a great feeling from her and it would be just this one more appt. Sooooo, I will be seeing (hopefully, cross your fingers for me that I do get to see her) Ms. Evelyn Mulhan in Maryland in about 3 - 4 weeks!

I just hope Im not getting my hopes up about having this home/waterbirth and then I deal with tricare and they say they can't/won't cover it (i swear i shudder just thinking about it!!!)

Are you talking about taking your pregnancy tea? Will they not let you carry herbs with you? I recently had to travel, granted by car, but I bought those disposable tea bags that you can fill yourself and just added my herb mix to those and put each one in a quart jar for each day I was going to be gone... then I just filled them up with hot water at the hotel and let them steep. But I have no suggestions if they won't let you bring them onto a plane!

M/S is hitting hard when I'm not paying attention and going too far between meals, which I've been doing. Ugh. The time change has really thrown me off b/c now I'm not even thinking about eating till it's dark... and then it's about 7/8 o'clock and too late!

I've got finals tomorrow and I'm so not prepared!! I've been studying all day and evening though, so I'm sure I'll do fine, I just don't ever feel prepared.

Just go back from having an u/s and we have a baby and a heartbeat! It is so nice to see a little moving baby and a strong heatbeat.

This morning was crazy. My u/s was downtown at 8 am and I had to drop the kids off at the sitters and drive DH to work before going to the u/s (and since we just moved here I had to find the place where the u/s was and for me that is a huge task since I have the worst sense of direction...I did only manage to get lost once so yay me!). And of course, in all the chaos this morning, for the first time in the morning I threw up from m/s. I've done a lot of dry heaving and gagging in the mornings but I haven't thrown up until today. Hopefully it was just due to all the chaos and trying to down enough water for the u/s.

DH wasn't able to go the u/s today so I am just waiting for him to call. He was soooooo paranoid that we were having twins so he will be super relieved to hear that we are just having one baby...maybe I should trick him when he calls and tell him it's triplets! How mean am I!

So based on my u/s today my new due date is October 18!

Add me to the list! I will be in intermittently, as I am not currently online. This week, however, I am staying at a friend's and will have full computer access! Yay!

I am somewhere about 11 weeks along with #2.

Tums are considered safe but I wouldn't take any unless I absolutely HAD to...also, be sure to take only the "Regular" Tums. I've been getting along well with slippery elm lozenges. They seem to do the trick with the early heartburn.

You can try "Gin-gins" (ginger hard candy) or candied ginger for the MS...ginger helps me and has helped other mamas that I've known. And eat protein nonstop! That's what helped me this time around.

I have been feeling the same way! I have really been wondering whether it's all in my head...but last night, I swear I felt the babe with my hand!

I'm still in my pants...but have to unbutton when I drive. At this point last time, I was out of my pants... I think that the lack of weight gain is due to Casimir's incessant nursing habit.

Is anyone else nursing through this pregnancy?
I'm still nursing my one year old. He only nurses to sleep and through the night (if needed) now but I am going to keep it up as long as I can. I nursed DD when I was pregnant with DS but as soon as I hit the second trimester she refused to nurse...it killed me because she was only nine months old at the time. I have a feeling my DS will give it up when I hit my second trimester as well because I have noticed that my supply has dipped a lot since getting pregnant again. Oh well...I will enjoy the next few weeks of nursing him.

Bayleesan - Thank you for all the info! Once I get home I'm going to look all those things up, and take a look at your photos!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I just want to show off my bump, I'll admit it. I've always wanted a summer pregnancy for this reason, so hopefully I don't just look fat! I want to look super cute, lol.

If you think about it, 12w1d is 1 day into your 13th week. So if you're in your 13th week, you are out of the 1st trimester. Just another way to look at it. But I agree, I think if you're 12w you're relatively safe.

We're flying direct from NJ, so it's going to be about 10 hrs nonstop. I'm not dreading the flight, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it. I'm making sure I have an aisle seat so I can get up to pee 7,000 times w/o having to climb over Chris or a stranger.

AAM - I'm feeling pretty good these past 2 days, a few minor pangs of nausea but nothing constant. Why do I feel like I'm in the home stretch when I still have 6 months to go? It's like getting to the 2nd trimester is just as big of a milestone as giving birth at this point, lol.

Ahhh... I miss it! I used to live in HI for a few years. I lived on O'ahu, up Pupukea. My oldest was born in Kahuku! I agree, you must see Hanauma Bay. You can also go see the blowhole too! Manoa Falls is a pretty easy hike, of course once we got there I had friends (locals) who took us up and passed the falls to ones that were higher up, it was really beautiful (not something you can do pg though). You can also just drive around the island, stopping along the way. Takes about 2hrs, if you take the bus it's 4...lol! there's Chinaman's Hat, Kailua beach, the PCC (polynesian cultural center) and the Pali Hwy Lookout!
