alternative to ACV for hair rinse

I am seriously considering going no-poo, or at least switching to a shampoo bar. Both methods usually recommend apple cider vinegar as a hair rinse. Unfortunately I cannot stand the smell of vinegar : (almost makes me gag), so is there an acceptable alternative? I've heard some people recommend lemon juice, but usually only for light-colored hair. I have long, thick, medium-brown hair that is oily at the scalp and dry on the ends, so I am not sure if lemon juice is okay?

We do no-poo, and you may not need a rinse. My hair gets "crunchy" with the ACV rinse. Dh does the rinse about once a month, but I just think he does it because it is "the method." I believe we have hard water (castile soap doesn't make bubbles and leaves a film).
Anyway, your hair will change as it "detoxes" for lack of a better word. And, if you are not washing all of the time, your oily scalp will be nourishing your ends. A boar's-bristle brush (or other natural hair) will help spread the oil down to the tips...

Have fun! Expect to experiment for a while before you get it right, but you should have wonderful results

I'm with you -- I can't stand the smell! I sprinkle a few drops of essential oil in the ACV/water bottle. It doesn't completely mask the vinegar smell, but it cuts it enough. I'm not sure if adding more EO would do any harm, but it's worth a try.

I use citric acid (just a tiny bit will do - I use 1/8 tsp for 12 oz of water). Great results and no smelling like a salad later when you get caught in the rain.
