My ds had corrective surgery for his meatal stenosis back when was 4, he is 7 now. The meatal stenosis is returning.
Its not to the point where he needs surgery because he can pee but its deflected with a small stream. He isn't in pain. I'm so worried its going to get worse. So, I was wondering about a product called second skin and having my ds use it for protective purposes.
I hesitate because, this is something else thats going to "mess" with his penis and I'm very reluctant to do that. I want him to feel normal, not a 7 yr old who will grow up recalling his parents having him put something on his penis every day until the day comes for him to decide weather or not to restore his foreskin, if thats what HE wants to do. He should reflect on his childhood as a very vibrant playful child. Would this interfere with that? Or would this be a legitimate routine that'll genuinely protect his meatus from further damage. I truly believe in the latter. But I just don't know. I really don't want his meatal opening to get worse than it is.
What do you think?
I'll understand if you think this is just really weird.
I hope you'll understand my concerns and try to see why I'm even considering this.
For those that don't know, my first was circ'd out of his parents (me and dh) ignorance and the evil doctor's greed. We know better now and have since had two other boys and left them as whole as God created them. Any other boys we have will also be left intact.

Its made of a water based silicone. I bought the 200 (1 inch squares) count. I applied it on my own skin to test it out and its really soft and very moist. But its too small. I'm going to have to get the 48 (3 inch circles) count. It would really be ironic if it was one of those products actually made from infants foreskin. I made sure it wasn't. I boycott anything made from infant foreskin. ugh, I'm sick now from thinking about it. Your approach to this seems very logical. That makes this a whole lot easier.
I really do believe it is a corrective measure, not something that will give a child a complex if their mother is worried about their penis. I worry about all of my dd's body parts at some point! I can see where it could cross lines (forcing your child), but I think it is important for parents to admit their mistakes and try to correct them-- especially when their child's health is at stake.
