Stinky sink drain, any ideas to make it smell better?

My sink drain is smelling pretty funky, not all the time, but sometimes. I was thinking about dumping some white vinegar and baking soda down it to get it kinda bubbly and hopefully make it fresher. I've done this to our bathroom sink, but I don't know if it actually helped. Any other ideas would be appreciated, TIA Erin.

I just had this problem last week. iIdid the vinegar and baking soda thing, but it did not seem to help. Then I let the hot water run for about 4-5 minutes and that seemed to do the trick. HTH's

I would try bs and vinegar too. I usually try to dump some vinegar down all the drains once a month.

Do you have a disposal? We eat a lot of citrus so I run the leftover peels thru the disposal and that helps a lot!!

For non-disposal drain I use baking soda and vinegar and let it it sit for at least 24 hours before suing the sink again. After 24 hours flush with really hot water.

I don't have a disposal, just a regular ol drain, I think I am going to to the baking soda thing again, it's just smelling so gross, I've got to do something. Thanks ladies.

Bleach to clear it out, and coffee grounds to keep it running and un-stinky.

Sounds gross but get out you gloves and dig. After you get what you can out. Boil a kettle of h20 and dump it down the drain. IF you have a porcelin orcast iron sink do not splash as you may crack your sink. After you do that pout a bottle of lemon juic edown the drain and do not use the sink for a few hours best to do before bed.

You can also pour Bio-Kleen Bac Out down the drain. The enzymes will actually eat away at the nasty stuff and neutralize odors.

Vinegar & Boiling Water. Works like a charm.

If all else fails, you can remove the trap (the curved part of your pipe under the sink) and clean it out by hand. Then reinstall it, and run hot water through it.

I've had to do that when some stuff got clogged in my trap and boy it was nasty. Burn a scented candle....
