bug issues

DD is just starting to get a little mobile and we realize that we need to do something about the bug traps we have out. Has anyone figured out a child-safe way to deal with a bug problem? We keep our home very clean pick up food crumbs very quickly but still get ants, little roaches and a couple of other unidentified bugs. YUCK!! It makes me really squeamish and we need to find some way to keep them at bay when we toss out the traps. HELP!

If you can figure out where the ants are getting in, spray the area with vinegar. We have two spots where they get in in the springtime and i just squirt a paper towel with vinegar and stuff it in the spaces and they don't come back.

Not sure about roaches though.
