Circ discussed on Oprah TODAY - Page 2

I came across it today and boy, that was BAD! That was the same usual "it's just cleaner" hogwash that you hear here in the US.

The really scarry part was the boy wanting to look like dad (say what??) and than his illogic rambling on skin getting stuck- and "that's phimosis". What the fuck was he talking about??? No intact man seems to really have that problem.

That was scary.3030

I actually have a friend whose foreskin is tight. It does happen.

I thought that considering where Dr. Oz practices -- a country with a very, very high circumcision rate -- he did an okay job. He could have done better, but he could have done FAR worse.

I'm so sick of "family tradition" being touted as an acceptable reason to mutilate your kid.

Why don't we all write a letter to Oprah stating just what has been said in this thread? even if you wrote her before, write again. Ask if she can do a show on circ - both female and male and she can have people for and against and debate their reasons why (because you KNOW she isn't going to do an anti-male circ show).

FWIW- I stopped watching Oprah a long time ago. She's way too self-righteous for my liking.

People give feedback. Be Angry Women. Tell her that if indeed she gives such outdated mythfilled information about foreskins how much the other info in her program is filled with similar lies!!!!!

Fill her mailbox!!!!

If you'll tell him to get in touch with me, I'll tell him how to resolve the problem in just a few weeks.

I saw this and was Her show reaches so many people who take everything she says as the gospel. I shouldn't be surprised, but this was a doctor for pete sakes.

I was very disappointed, yet glad DH didn't see it or that would open the whole discussion again.

I didn't see this episode the first time it ran so I was excited.....then I got ticked off. He gave SEVERAL reasons (I can't call them facts) he thinks it's good to circumcise and the ONLY benefit he gave to leave boys intact was for sexual sensitivity? I am SOOOOO disappointed, but not surprised.
