lochia ? and stitches ?

So ladies way tmi BUT how is your flow? Mine had gotten lighter now with me at home and getting back to the way things were its gotten heavy again. At what point do you get concerned?

Alright on to no. 2 what can I do for these stitches...they ITCH..I do the peri bottle after a voiding...but still can't poop for the life of me. any one else with me?

I am 2 weeks postpartum and last night I actually leaked everywhere, my flow and cramps came back full force and bright red. It slowed down again. You will notice a heavier flow if you have overdone it the day before. As for stitches not a whole lot you can do. I take a stool softener to help me poop.

I'm 1 week postpartum. My flow is still bright red. It did get heavier right after I came home, then lighten again. I, rather foolishly, went to the grocery store 3 days ago where I lifted a 40lbs dog food bag, and some 12 packs of coke. It got heavier again that night and I passed some fair sized clots. DH was not happy with me. In general, the flow is a little heavier than my heavy days on my period. I've always had a relatively light period though. I wear the super pads and change them about 3 times a day but they're never more than about 1/3rd to a 1/2 soaked.

My stitches haven't really bothered me. I do use witch hazel pads both on the stitches and the hemorrhoids. If I had to choose between the stitches and the hemorrhoids, I'd go with the stitches every time.

I bought a spray from Earth Angel Mama Baby that is supposed to help "down below" healing that you can spray on for relief. Baby hasn't arrived yet, so I can't help you. I had to have peri surgery a few years ago. What saved my life is that horribly embarassing donut. It may look stupid, but it feels good!

I'm going on 20 days PP and my bleeding totally stopped a few days ago. I think tandem nursing might have helped that!

I had stitches with my first and I totally remember the itching. The thing I remembering helping was having a detachable shower head in the shower. Far better than a peri bottle!

I had a problem with DS1 at 10 days PP. I started bleeding like nobody's business. I had heavy pads and soaked completely through in 20 minutes. I brought it up to my midwife this time and her explanation was that the placenta site inside the uterus develops a sort of "scab" that starts to come off right around that time. I'm 10 days PP today and haven't had any problems yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't happen this time.

its only been a week & the bleeding is slowing down. its still there & i notice if i bend over, lift something or move a certain way more blood will come out. for the sticthes, yea i feel the itchiness but the good thing is supposedly when it itches it means its healing. i use the witch hazel pads & occassionaly the bottle but when i had my first daughter i bled a whole lot more & had more pain down there being that i had an episitiomy. this time around i didnt, just tore & needed small stitches in 2 places.

anyway, the bleeding sounds normal but if you start passing large amounts of blood clots & its lasting practically the whole day id let your doctor know.

That's very interesting to know! I'm 11 days PP and started bleeding today rather heavily compared to the last few days. I certainly notice more bleeding as I'm getting more active.

re: stitches. I did a sitz bath every morning and also used a hand held shower to clean up. I don't remember itchiness (I had a lot of stitches with DD1 and a couple with DD2).

Thanks ladies. ITs better today. Discovered the hair dryer is amazing to dry with out wiping as much. Feeling 1/2 way normal again.
