Positive Discipline anyone?

Has anyone read this book? I'm in the middle of it and I love this idea. I've been trying to implement what I can and it seems to be working. It has made my look at my dd completely different...in a good way.

I read it last year. I really loved it. I posted about it in a blog and Dr Nelsen replied! It was freaky but I'm sure she has a thing that searches the internet for her name.

I've been thinking about re-reading it soon.

I think it's a really good introduction to the concepts that are behind GD. There are points where she's not very AP (she's against co-sleeping, for example), but I like her stuff because it's direct, practical and helps me think about things.

Other people here are less thrilled with her stuff, but IMO, they've moved a level or two "beyond" Positive Discipline in terms of sophistication. For those who new to these concepts, it's a great place to start.

I like the philosophy, but I am not at all wild about Jane's somewhat laissez faire attitude about teens. My feeling is that her kids were probably not particularly challenging temperamentally, because she describes plenty of coerciveness that she used before discovering a better way. OTOH, it's quite possible her DC just really responded well to PD. Who knows? I think I like Paretn Effectiveness Training better, and the books I really like are the ones by Don Dinkmeyer et al.
