I circ'd my first three kids but left my youngest intact (im a slow learn)
so this is all very new to me.
he pulls at his penis A LOT and today I noticed when he pulls it it actually retracts about half way. I know Im not supposed to retract it but is it a problem that hes doing it? hes 10 months
the other question I have is that when he pulled on it the am I noticed little white pearls which I assume are schmegma(sp?) do I need to do anything about it? Id rather just leave it if I can
thanks sorry im such a dolt.

Congratulations on leaving your youngest intact!

The white pearls are smegma pearls, they are harmless and no need to wash them away or anything. They'll work their way out on their own.

Not a problem for him to pull on it himself (that helps it become retractable over time and it's totally normal, he won't hurt himself). And just leave the smegma alone, that's fine.

Just wanted to add- boys become retractable at all ages. A few, very few, are even born retractable. The important thing is he is the only one that should retract himself.
And a soaking bath (instead of just wiping) will help clear out the smegma pearls if it is a lot... but you don't have to do anything at all to it It could be slightly itchy or slightly stinging because the forskin is seperating, but since he's not verbal, he would just pull on it. And there is nothing wrong with that, either. Anyway, a nice warm bath can't hurt.

And, there is no such thing as a stupid question
Congrats!

Have you checked out the sticky about retraction?

It is also possible that these could be pearly penile papules which are also totally harmless and innocent. Nothing need be done about them either.

I agree with the others that the child will not hurt himself. That pulling probably feels really good in a non-sexual way.
