I'm back in the saddle again...

After the traumatic experience of having not one but two pairs of my hand-knit socks die painful deaths on me (large holes ), and then the frustration of starting some new socks with yarn that was fighting me (ever have yarn that fights you? No matter what you try to knit with it, it ends in disaster?) and throwing up my hands in frustration, I have gotten back in the saddle. I got two new sock yarns and am knitting both Chevron Socks and Flickering Flame Socks. They are both humming along and I'm enjoying them very much. What a great feeling! Now to get enough housework done that I can feel justified in knitting a little.

I've decided that this is going to be the Summer of Socks for me -- I always knit lots of socks for CIC, and I'm sure I'll do lots more this year, but I'm going to do a lot of knitting for me, and replenish that sad empty sock drawer before the snow flies again.

I love knitting socks for me. The kids don't cherish them like I do

Yay for you! There is nothing cooler than wearing your own handknit socks! (hmmm- as a side note I was at my ob's wearing a pair of my knit socks and he actually commented while doing the exam- it was weird but cool)

That is so great for you! I am just starting my first pair of grown up socks and they are not for me. After reading the posts here, I am eager to start some for myself so I can find out how great they are.

What a great story, though!

I actually knit myself some "birthin' socks" for DS, b/c I had read in so many books that the delivery rooms are cold and to take socks in your suitcase of stuff. So I had special h/k socks for DS's birth. Never got around to doing any for DD's birth, but I was knitting socks just a few hours post-partum!

Jerri, what went wrong w/your grown up socks? Maybe it was just the yarn or the pattern fighting you? or did you actually finish them and they didn't fit?

It sure does feel good to be knitting for me again. It's been a while.

I think Jerri's socks were a gift

Sock knitting is evil. If I'm going to faff around with small needles and fine yarn, I'd rather make baby clothes- most babies are far prettier than my feet.

Yea! Glad to have you back!

I've recently returned as well. That darn job kept getting in my way of knitting in the evenings.

Housework, schmouse work, knitting is art!
