Easter Egg Fun!

Had a dying party with a friend today, after the kiddos were done with their eggs the mamas broke out the yarn to dye

blue and gray, one of the kits I bought had gray dye, for making elephant eggs, it was a 'zoo' theme, lol.

super long hank, hopefully I did it right and it will stripe as I knit

And for fun, we also dyed some wool soakers she had.

Last year we did the same thing, but we didn't heat set the dye long enough and most of the colors washed out in the rinse, this year we nuked the heck out of those suckers and nothing rinsed out! I'm so glad too!

Cool -- be sure and hit the stores on Monday to get the 1/2 price egg-dyeing kits. I have a huge bag of them that my mom got a couple of years ago, .10 a piece at Big Lots. I've already used a ton of it for my yarn, and the kids and I never have to worry about dyeing eggs and buying the dye for it.

I do, every year, which is why I have a huge bag of dye kits in my closet,

the blue and green, gray and blue are mine, the pink yellow and orange is my friends Its kinda obvious I'm having a boy and she is having a girl,

I have some undyed BFL in my stash...I should drag it out this fine "first day of spring"

The only ones I'm really happy with are the Wilton (green) and the onion skin (yellow-ish).

The others are all liquid food color (except the brown is coffee, and I think I didn't make it strong enough).

Wow! So cool! THe thought never even occured to me to dye something with easter egg dye! I wonder what I should try...
