Talk to me about doing laundry with BS

I have a front loader. I'm interested in learning more about doing laundry with baking soda. Like how much? How to make sure the clothes get clean? etc. I already frequently put some white vinegar in the fabric softener slot in my FL. I've tried putting some BS in teh detergent slot, but I'm not sure if I'm putting enough/too much.

Thanks!

I have a top loader, so this might not help. I think most people use 1/2 - 1 cup BS as detergent. I don't know if you should put this in this dispenser, or maybe just sprinkle it in the drum with the clothes. I would think that might work better to get it all disolved. I think the amount you use depends on if you have hard or soft water. Harder water might require more BS. I think I would start with 1/2 cup & see how the clothes turn out.

Would this work with cloth diapers?
