Help my poor nipples!

Ouch! My 7 month old dd has been biting a lot lately, and now my right nipple is so sore and bleeds off and on.........I don't think it's thrush, just from biting. I'm still nursing on that side, should I stop and pump for a day to give it a rest? It hurts just to wear a bra.

Lansinoh really can help, sprry not to have better advice, I'm nursing a sore cracked nipple myself right now and DS is 21 months!

How did I forget about that? I have some, I'm going right now to try it, good luck with your cracked nipple.:

Oh so it's not only me! DS 7months has his first tooth and I'm sore! He's comfort nursing tons at the moment too.
Can't imagine what it's going to be like with more of them in his mouth!

I wish I had advice! My 11-month-old has been teething his back teeth and the past week has bit me really hard- tonight as he was nursing to sleep he bit so hard and pulled and drew blood - lots of it! This better end soon; I really love breastfeeding and can't stomach the thought of weaning; but it hurts really bad.

if it hurts to wear a bra, try using shells - they keep your nipple from contacting *anything* (you wear them in between feedings) and greatly helped me cope w/ very sore nipples. And yes, unless you have huge supply issues, feel free to take a 'pumping vacation' for your sore nipple and just go with the amount of time that feels comfortable to you.
good luck!

Thanks for the reminder about Lansinoh. My son is 7 months and not biting but he is mouthing me or latching on differently--something--since getting his two top teeth (and they aren't done coming in yet)! The bottom two were covered by his tongue at least....I tried pushing him in to the bite and that also worked for him. BTW...I was reading in one of the other sections/forums and some one also suggested suggested checking out the health and healing forums for homeopathic and other health help advice. (Arnica was something she mentioned. I know I took that in South Africa when I had some wisdom teeth removed).

For me the Lansinoh doesn't work, is it possible to have a sensitivity? It says hypoallergenic.

I have found that keeping it dry worked the best. But maybe I am just weird.

After I had DS, my LC actually didn't recommend Lansinoh because she said many people are allergic. I don't know though!
