Appetite

I have really been suffering from a lack of appetite since my daughter was born 8 days ago, am I the only one?

I only want cereal for breakfast, a sandwich and apple for lunch, a cookie at 3pm and then a tiny dinner with perhaps a dessert later.

I am concerned that this is not enough for a breastfeeding Mum to be eating.

Is this normal? Will it build back up, or is this my body's way of using up the fat stored during my pregnancy?

For the first few weeks after my DS was born, I rarely felt hungry and had to remind myself to eat to keep my hormones in check! :-) But, I think what you're eating sounds like plenty to be making a healthy BM supply for your LO, and so long as you're feeling satisfied, I think it's just fine. You might find that as your milk production establishes itself and as you adjust to life with your new babe, you'll have more of an appetite. Just my thoughts. Congratulations!

Yes I ate CONSTANTLY pregnant but several times I eat at noon and then by dinner at 8pm I realize I haven't eaten a crumb in 8hrs... and I can skip breakfast without noticing... I bet once things balance out pp I'll go back to normal eating...

When I was pp with ds for the first month I had zero appetite. It may have been partially due to depression. I lived on protein shakes.
