Natural Mattresses or saving for a hybrid WWYD?

I want to use our government rebate check thingy for new natural mattresses for the whole family (two twins and a queen). We have a local place that makes and sell mattresses they have this naturally flame retardent material (I can't remember the name of it, but I think it's from Finland or something) that they use along with cotton fill to make a nice non-toxin mattress.

Dh wants to put it into savings for his Prius we plan to buy. With that, our current savings and the extra work he will be doing this summer we should be able to get a used one within 10-12 months. It will probably be an 2000-2002 with 100+ miles off Ebay

Both are good ideas, but we just don't know what to do???

Personally I'd put the money towards a green mattress.

After exploring the Prius, we decided against buying one. The maintenance requirements for it make it considerably more expensive in upkeep than a car that doesn't have the hybrid technology. Instead we decided to buy a Mini Cooper which costs new about the same as a used hybrid, gets 37 mpg, and doesn't have batteries that need replacing every 7-10 years.

But at the same time we're working on driving less as well.

I'd get a latex mattress. You spend way more of your life in bed than in the car.

ITA you spend much more time in bed than in the car. I'd go for the mattresses

I agree.

I would vote for buying a hybrid. Or better yet, a diesel vehicle and find bio diesel fuel in your area.
