Anyone else spring cleaning?

Todays my big cleaning day! And I'm actually excited, the sun is shining, warm enough to crack a few windows, and the boys are going fishing or watching ball games with dh. I'm going to start deep cleaning and see how far I get.

Does anyone want to join me? Offer advice? Motivate me!

I've done some of the kitchen, going to go do somemore...

well, i hope i can get some spring cleaning done! i got a start on it last weekend and will do what i can today, but i don't have high hopes with my two babes around. they're a handful anyway, plus they're still recovering from their tummy troubles earlier this week.

maybe i will follow your lead and work on a sparkling, springy-fresh kitchen!

That was the plan until I woke up to snow falling with stinging ice crystals...sigh....no motivation for this weekend now

Ooooh, that would be so nice... I haven't done a good deep cleaning around here in a very, very long time. Maybe someday! *sigh*

Please join me! I've cleaned all the old food out of the fridge, washed those dishes, and now scrubbed the sink and faucet, running vinegar, bs and hot h2o down the drain. All in about 10 min. Now I'm going to put those dishes away and scrub the drainer...

I'm in!

My children are spending Spring Break with their dad, so I have an entire week to do Spring Cleaning uninterrrupted. (I do have to work on the weekdays, but at least no one will be undoing what I've accomplished while I'm away from home!)

I plan to work on one room per day - during the evening on weekdays. Tonight from 6 to 9 I'm decluttering/deep cleaning the bathroom, for instance.

By April Fool's Day, my entire house will be decluttered, clean and ready for Springtime!! (I'll post photos if I remember to take them!)

Someone with kids can DO all that in ONE DAY???

Gosh, if I got ONE of those things done in a single day, I'd feel like superwoman.

Oh, count me in! I went a bit crazy in the kitchen today . . . scrubbed out the cabinet under the sink where the garbage sits , wiped down all the cabinets and the sink, scrubbed down the backsplash good, cleaned the top of the fridge, did the kitchen, bathroom, and entry way floors. I got DH to clean and vacuum our room and the playroom. Also did a major scrub of the bathroom and washed the kitchen and entry way throw rugs. I need to sweep the laminate in the living room and kids' room but DH got called out for an emergency response and I need him here to move the furniture for me to sweep under. So that'll have to wait.

Now, I can't wait for it to warm up enough here so I can take the plastic off our windows and give those a good scrub. Nevermind the fact I cleaned them before we put up the plastic, they've managed to get filthy somehow.

DH's also going to tackle the storage room and guest bedroom this weekend. Both of those spots have been over run by his crap so I'm making him take care of it now b/c I want this house to be fully decluttered before the baby comes. The main level looks good decluttering-wise, it's just the basement that is a bit of a disaster.

Whoo - hoo - look at all we accomplished today!

I'm feeling pretty good. Here's what got done:

Today
*Kitchen food cupboards purged and wiped.
*Cleaned laundry sink
2 loads of laundry washed and hung to dry
Put everything away in mudroom
*Wiped mudroom woodwork and swept floors
Straighten living room, phone area, our bedroom
Put away 2 loads of clothes

Played mega blocks with my boys, lunched and napped with them.
Fixed Dinner

Only the * feel like deep spring cleaning, but some got accomplished.

Tomorrow I hope to

Clean the scary cupboard under the sink
Scrub bathroom floors (x2)
Clean under china cabinent
Clean under storage cabinent, couch, bed
Oxy Clean the sheets and shower curtain

Does anyone have an order or system that works for them?

I feel like working in sections helped in the kitchen, but I seem to be jumping around the rest of the house to tackle those jobs that only get done a few times a year. It seems to random to me, but if I try to get everycorner with a toothbrush it will never get done and I'll give up.

I have a four day weekend thanks to the stat holidays on Friday and Monday, so I was hoping to get a lot done.

Today I:

-Cleaned the kitchen
-Caught up on all the dishes (we had gotten backlogged because they were DH's responsibility this week...)
-Started some organizing
-Hung some paintings that I had previously been too lazy to dig out
-Wrote an extensive "House Rule" list regarding everybody's responsibilities and chores, in hopes that DH won't trash the kitchen so horribly ever again (lol?)
-Gathered up all of the laundry from everybody's bedroom floors
-Started cleaning my bedroom
-Started cleaning the washrooms
-Did some tidying in the living room, and front entrance

My plans for the rest of the weekend are to:

-Rearrange my bedroom - it's too cluttered and stupid right now with the bed plopped in the middle of the room
-Clean the kids' room, and box up outgrown clothing
-Go through my closet and pull out the stuff I never ever wear, to be donated
-Laundry laundry laundry. Oh man...it's going to be painful
-Shampoo the living room carpets (ok, getting a tad too ambitious here)
-Finish cleaning the washrooms
-Clean the balcony, in preperation for Spring weather.

Good Morning!

Anyone ready for day to? Want to join us?

I'm giving myself the next 2 hours to hit it hard, then I'm "walking away" from the cleaning and focusing on some fun family things we have planned today.

I got under the sink down last night as I was cleaning up dinner. All the extra bags are in the recyling and the few old newspapers we keep are neatly in a paper bag (instead of just thrown in there). I threw out almost empty bottles of softscrub, and scrubbed the heck out of everything. Its almost beautiful now!

This morning, I'm going to dust, spritz and rehang all the photos and pictures on the wall. Take down and wash the easy curtains (I'll save the heavy winter ones for when I'm really ready to have them down for the year.) And soak the sheets and shower curtain in oxy clean. Then I'll see what there is time for.

Good luck everyone!

This is going to be my spring cleaning week. Each day I will tackle a different room in the house. We are getting our brand new stove delivered today, so today's job is the kitchen.
Tomorrow - bedrooms, Wednesday - office & playroom, Thursday - living room, and Friday - bathrooms.

Paying someone else to do it!

I don't have a house cleaner on a regular basis, but I do get help before Passover and Rosh HaShana. We are switching houses with a family up North this weekend (so that we can be with friends) and I have to work Friday a.m., so I am hiring two guys for 4 hours each. My house is always pretty clean, but not deep clean, and I don't want this family to have to live with the dust and dirt I don't get around to (we take showers, not baths, so I never scrub the bathtub the way I should), plus we are spraying for ants today in the bathroom (we have hundreds, so gross, so we are going for the poison). Too bad it won't stay clean until Passover next month! So now all I have to do is laundry, put stuff away, closets, etc. Still plenty to do!
