GBS+ and having sex

Is it ok?

I am 39w1day and GBS+. My midwife isn't too concerned with me homebirthing without antibiotics, and that is our plan. However she said she would be more watchful and do minimum vaginal examinations.

I have been told by others to have sex to bring on labor...So my question is, if vaginal exams are bad, wouldn't sex be bad too? Or is that just for vaginal exams during labor? I am clueless.

I think it's just VE's during labor . . . . . but you could call and ask her to be sure . . . . .

I've read sex is actually beneficial for gbs.

I've heard it said that you should have sex before your GBS test because the semen has some effect in suppressing the GBS. I do not know how true this is but if it is true then having sex prior to labour would be helpful and not hurtful.
