The summer before freshman year my parents let me fly overseas without them- with a friend and her mom.
It was an incredible experience- I say go for it!

I've been on school trips to various countries around Europe- first one was aged 12. Definitely go for it, but stick to whatever you're agreeing for the money side of it. In fact, I'd start a joint savings account for it so that she's aware of how much you've put aside- and that that's it.
