4 year old book recommendation - recently weaned, feeling scared...

DD#2 weaned about 6 weeks ago. She's been sleeping with dd#1 since Christmas and things have gone smoothly. After she weaned, she's feeling more aware of the separation from me. She comes in the middle of the night to our bed. I don't have a problem with that and actually love cuddling with her. I realize that she is still very little and that the separation from me is hard. I was talking to someone and she recommended finding picture books with a kangeroo or other marsupials. The little kangeroo weans and goes off, but is still free to hop back into mama's pouch when he/she needs to. I tried searching on amazon but no luck yet. Any suggestions? I'm debating whether to cross post this in the child-led weaning board.

My sister got a cute book for my dd that I think is called Does a Kangaroo have a mother too? and it came with a cute stuffed Kangaroo and baby in the pouch....let me see if I can find it on the net...

Okay I did get the title right and it is written by Eric Carle. It is definitely cute!
Another cute bedtime book is: Don't let the Pigeon Stay up late.....but it really has nothing to do with sleeping alone.
Uhmmmm....If I think of any more I will tell you!

I just thought of something else....my friend little guy didn't want to sleep alone because he had nightmares....we made him a Dreamcatcher and told him that all his bad dreams would be caught in the Dreamcatchers *web* and he never had a nightmare after that....it was his protection!

Hmm... no idea but when you find out, please post it. Dd will be weaning when she turns 4 (she set the date, I'm going to hold her to it. I've been "done" with nursing for a good year now!). It would make a great birthday present (together with a stuff kangaroo with baby).

We have, "come and play Kick a roo"

It is actually exactly what you are describing. The little kanga roo doesn't want to leave his mama's pouch but he is curious about what the other Kang ros are doing, IE: Swimming, eating sandwiches and running races. She doesn't force him out and lets him discover the world...he even drinks, "mama roo's milk'
