We are moving next weekend to a new and smaller place. In our current apartment I have three full size trash cans. One for trash, and the other two for recycling. We are not going to have room where we are moving. Any recycling will have to be driven and dropped off so it I need something that will hold a reasonable amount of stuff. Any recycling storage solutions for a very small space?

We just moved from having a garage we could put two cans in for recycling to no garage and we didn't want pest problems with putting the cans outdoors so we had to put our recycling indoors.
What we do is put all the recycleables in a tall, slender can and before my DP takes them off each week or so he sorts them, putting all plastics in a bag, cans in another, etc. Don't know if that's workable for you, but it's what we do now.

- It takes a great deal of bork!bork!bork! to produce a little banning.

How about one of those 3-divider hampers? Just line it with your trash bags.

I keep my recyclables under the sink. I have a dream of building a recycling station for the porch that would look nice and be functional. It would basically be some trashcans in a row, but in a wooden cabinet (would open fromt he top though). A friend of mine built a rack to hold trash cans. The trash cans lay at angle of about 20 degrees or so. I should take a pic one day. It's very functional for the small space it is taking up.

We live in a very small space (720 sq ft) with one small garbage bin and one large recycling bin. I keep our garbage bag and recycling container under the sink. I'm sure you're already doing this...but the #1 way we handle it is by keeping our garbage to a minimum. I've found myself doing lots more plannign ahead of time of how to buy in bulk, repurpose plastic and other containers. I made a New Year's resolution not to bring anymore plastic bags home if at all possible, and I've found that that in itself has put a dent in my garbage output...for whatever reason
The other thing is only using every bit of the food I buy/cook. That sounds easy enough but you'd be surprised by how much food you end up tossing.

We have a two bedroom apartment. I put the recycling under the sink in a cardboard box.

We have two separate bags. One reusable cloth bag that we bought from the grocery store for 99 cents (I bought quite a few of them) holds paper products and any non-messy recyclables. We hang it on the front door handle which isn't the prettiest solution but it is where we need it and we can grab it on the way out to walk it up to the recycling box. The second is a bag we just added. WalMart was giving away reusable bags (one per customer a few weeks ago) but they weren't the canvas type, they were vinyl. I didn't like the feel so I suggested we use it as a bag for the messy things (plastics that have to be washed out, etc.) and my husband loved the idea so now that sits in our kitchen next to our trash can. We walk the bags up to the recycling box when it gets full but if we had to drive I'd store the stuff in the hall closet on the floor in other reusable bags. We can just dump it all in together which is why our system is so lax. I'd likely get one of those hampers if I needed to separate it all (great idea by the way, smeisnotapirate!)
