Anyone dealing with high blood pressure AFTER delivery?

I was induced at 37 weeks due to severe pre-eclampsia. My blood pressure stayed fairly high in the hospital even after being on magnesium sulfate and after deilivery. I was sent home on b.p. meds 2 x's a day. My b.p. is gradually getting a big better. Just curious though if anyone else was dealing with high b.p. after delivery.

I developed high bp halfway through my first pregnancy and it never went down. It's just plain weird as I always have had normal bp. I think a lot of it now is white coat hypertension since it's always lower at home.

So, I've been lurking in this DDC for a long time without many posts, but I wanted to respond.

I was induced at 38 weeks for pre-e and HELLP, and while my BP is down from when I entered the hospital, its still pretty high one week post partum. I was not sent home with any BP medication, and I keep wondering why not. My BPs are in the 140/90 range consistently. Do you mind if I ask what yours were?

I'm wondering if you also have this other symptom? You know how they worry about your reflexes being over reactive. I still feel like mine are all on edge, and I get these weird twitches sometimes. Do you have any of that?

I delivered by c/s at 41 weeks, and had normal BP throughout pregnancy. Developed high bp postpartum, and was on meds for 10 days-2 weeks (I can't remember). Then it went away, and has been fine ever since. Weird thing, I guess.

Yup. Funny you should ask, I'm six days PP and my midwife just started getting worried about my blood pressure today. It was hovering at around 84-88 diastolic, but today it was up to 102. She's gonna come around tomorrow and check it again, and if it's still high I might need to be put on meds. A bit of a nuisance, but she assures me the meds would be blood-pressure friendly, and I'm just so happy that the baby's doing well that I'm OK with it.

She keeps telling me to get lots of rest, and to call her if I get blurred vision or a headache. I had a brief 'spell' yesterday when I was baking DH a birthday cake, and she scolded me and said I overdid it. I'm still kind of reeling from the concept that baking a cake could be considered overdoing it!

Hi Mama.

When I was in the hospital, before discharge, it was my bottom number that was mostly concerning them...and that was in the 100-110 range. The top number was pretty decent like in the 130's.

I don't think I've noticed weird twitches, but every little thing that feels different now makes me wonder if it's something bad related to the b.p.
