I have a developmentally delayed six year old who is not potty trained yet. It's a rough road.

Nice to know that "later" will come...this is where dd (39.5 months) is. She is totally capable; completely understands the process; we go through periods where she'll actually sit on the potty without fighting. Right now, well, if she's in underpants, she'll ask for a pull-up when she needs to go. If I insist on sitting on the potty, she'll hold it, then ask for a pull-up again a little later.

She really doesn't like accidents--this is the kind of kid who will want to change pants if she gets a few spots of water, so soppy underpants and wet legs are a real turn-off. So we're working on it. Patiently.
