Embroidery on PUL???

So I know many of you who have embroidery machines use it to embroider your PUL covers. I was wondering do you just fuse two layers of PUL together and put in the hoop and go, or do you do two layers of PUL and one of the stabilizer stuff? The lady at the sewing machine shop said I would have to use tear off stabilizer, but has no idea what PUL is. So I thought I would ask those who know

Thanks!

For pocket diapers I embroider on the outside layer with stablizer I've used cut away as well as tear away. Then, I cut a patch of PUL a little bigger than the design and iron it together (shiney sides together). You have to be careful about the temp of your iron. You want it hot enough to melt the laminate and fuse the two together but not hot enough to melt polyester. I also use a press cloth in between my iron and PUL.

For covers I'd probably just do a to layer cover with the embroidery on the outside layer only. There would be no need to do a patch if you have a full layer of pul lining the cover.

Thanks for responding Walkinthepark!

So my understanding from your post is for a two layer PUL cover you would embroider on the outside layer WITH stabilizer that tears off. When finished you tear off excess and fuse the second layer of PUL to the embroidered layer with shiny sides together and an iron. Have I got that right?

Sorry it just helps to say it back to make sure before I read wrong and make a dumb mistake!

Thanks a bunch!
