painful acne

Thread Starter
I'm suddenly breaking out with huge pimples all over my face, shoulders, back.

I had reconstructive uterine surgery about 2 weeks ago. The acne showed up shortly afterwards. Its odd because I'm still recovering so I'm spending almost all my time just hanging out in bed or on the couch, no makeup, no job stress, plenty of sleep, eating really healthy. I'm guessing its hormonal and it will go away eventually, but I need to do something to treat them because they HURT.

I'm highly allergic to benzoyl peroxide so that is out.

I'm willing to try just about anything, natural or chemical.

I'm sorry. the only thing i can say is you should have this checked out. To have acne so bad so suddenly is odd. And this sounds like a deep acne. my DH had this for years and he had terrible scars. My baby also had the deep acne and he has some scars also but due to his age (2 years old) his skin is resiliant. they both had the acne that was like deep red welts that feel bruised and soar and take a long tiem to break the skin.

DS Dr reccomended soaking his acne with a warm/hot clean wash cloth in clean water and just holding it there. this helped draw them out and let them drain. Also if they are braking open and bleeding you may want to switch to darker bed sheets and pillow case so they do not end up stained.

Not trying to scare you at all. DH has scars from years on not doing anyting about it (His mom never did anything about it as a teen either).

Hope you can find some relief.

I´ve had good results clearing my hormonal acne (which I think you´re right this is) by drinking dandelion and burdock tea to cleanse the skin and taking agnus castus tincture to balance hormones - it tastes disgusting but I had really positive results in one cycle. If you´re already eating healthy, I´m sure you´ll get over it quickly.

Try drinking lots of water and wash your face with honey (see different thread).
Both helped me tremendously.
