Newborn Breast Infection

Has anyone's newborn developed an infection in a breast? I know it is common to have swollen breast tissue for the first few weeks, but one of Calvin's breasts has grown much larger than the other and is red and hard and hot to the touch. He doesn't have a fever, though we are taking him into the doctor today to have it checked out anyway. Anyone know about this?

Your post caught my attention off the front page, though I'm not in your DDC. Swollen breast or breasts during the newborn stage are very very common. It's mainly from the hormones of pregnancy/labor. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/10/T110231.asp

Certainly go to the Dr. if you feel that's best though! Always follow your gut!

Our midwife recommended that we put cabbage leaves on our child's chest right after birth last time around for a few days and it helped clear things right up. It does smell a bit funky though lol!

Are you using TTO or Lavender on him? His wipes? His Creams?

Just an idea... I know it is only a few it effects, but you never know!
