where do you get shea butter?

from what I've been reading, it sounds like shea butter will solve a lot of my problems- looking for an spf for my face, acne, and wrinkles around my eyes... so what kind should i get? is unrefined better than the whipped kind? has anyone ordered the kind from frontier? also, how cost effective is it, especially if I were to use it as a sunscreen? is it strong enough to use on ds?

For the most benefit, you need to get unrefined shea. Refined has been stripped of most of it's benefits. Don't buy whipped - you're paying for air. Buy regular, unrefined shea butter and if you want it whipped, whip it yourself.

It is absolutely not a reliable sunscreen. It does have some SPF in it but, not enough that I would rely on it as my sole sun protection - especially not for my child.

I get mine from the above source, too. The SPF factor of unrefined shea butter is approximately 6. It only lasts for 18 months from the time the butter is made in Africa. After that point, it's still good as a moisturizer but not as a sunscreen and it loses its healing properties, too. The owner of the store linked above will tell you precisely when her current batch of stock was produced, so you will know how long its scar-fading properties and SPF will be potent.
