Two moms asked to move or leave

My dad lives in the area and emailed me the article. *Yeah for my dad- he totally supports bfing- even in public. I think he actually commented on there. * I'm a little surprized LLL got involved but whatever works. I'm trying to find an update or get more info.

I can't look at these articles anymore. It's too upsetting.

I'm sick of situations like this happening.

And I'm sure my comment will attract a few flies... meh, who cares?

I think the symbol the reporter attributed to LLL, could have been the international breastfeeding symbol - but they didn't know what it was.

Quote:
Some of the mothers held signs proclaiming "Breastfeeding: a baby's right to eat" and "Anytime, anywhere." Behind the words, the symbol of the La Leche League was imaged in blue and white: a stylized representation of a mother with a child in her arms.

The league is an international organization with local chapters that provides information and support to breast-feeding women.
LLL may not have been formally involved. If a mom comes to a meeting and tells other moms about something, the moms themselves can organize a nurse-in or whatever. Usually the LLL group leaders themselves can't organize something at a LLL meeting, but a regular mom can.

That's irritating. You'd think that with all these incidents popping up, resturants would start training their management not to do that, even just to prevent the negative PR that comes from it.

Yeah, I sent an e-mail about that. I guess to be a reporter all one needs is a pen and paper, and not the ability to do fact checking? (Really, ALL that he had to do was ask one of those moms what the symbol was!)

Yeah I caught that too.

KirstenMary, I heard I really cool quote this week and thought of you and your travails on the comments boards

"I don't argue with idiots, they just bring me down to their level and beat me with experience"

If they were asked to move because the server was uncomfortable, why didn't the manager just assign a different server? Doesn't make sense to me.

Slightly off topic, isn't the LLL symbol also a stylized picture of a mother with babe-in-arms? The photo didn't show the symbol.

Ugh, many of the comments to that story were so idiodic.

I'm offended that people are offended by breastfeeding- can I ask them to leave?

This is the LLL symbol: http://lllmadison.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/lisa.jpeg

This is the photo they have on the page of the article:

The mom's arm is obscuring most of it, but you can still make out that it is the IBS and CLEARLY not the LLL logo.

Aha! You're right! I didn't notice the possibility of the image under her arm, thanks for pointing it out. (Maybe I *do* need that eye exam after all?!)

That's terrible, you would think in this day and age we would be past all this. Just goes to show that as far as we've come we've got a long long way to go.
