Freshen Cabinets

Thread Starter
We just bought an 83 year old house and the cabinets smell really old and musty. I cleaned them and lined them, but the smell is still there -- not as bad, but just enough to bug me. (Of course my dh smells nothing.)

Does anyone have any tips?

I'd try a paste made of baking soda, soap (dishsoap...dr. bronners...etc) and water followed up by a vinegar rinse. You could add lavender or tea tree oil to kill germs...

Thanks! I'll give it a try.

You could also try leaving baking soda in bowls inside for a few days to soak up the odor. Or old newspapers crumpled up.

And if that doesn't work, you could try leaving scented candles inside for a couple of weeks.
