For those who use a curriculum-
How far in advance do you start gathering or buying for the next level of your curriculum?

i use an ecelectic mix of texts, and i've been purchasing a lot for next fall already. i'm still investigating a few subjects of things i want to buy ....i'm just trying to narrow it down and make sure it's what i want before i pay. this summer i'll create a loose outline for a scope and sequence for myself. obviously that's not necessary, but that's just the way i roll.

I keep an eye out for deals (good deals) at all times for the next two levels. If I don't find anything before I need them I will buy the next level about 2 to 3 weeks before I need it. I really procrastinate, hoping a used copy or sale will come up!

I buy in spring for fall. Anything else I need I buy as it comes up.

We school year-round and move on when one level is finished. I typically purchase the next level when the current level is about 75% finished.

This is exactly us too. And my son isn't in one level for all of his studies. He's all over the map in terms of ability. I just keep the work at his level for each subject.

I once bought four years worth of Singapore Math workbooks (3A through 6B) for three kids, when only my eldest was even getting close to beginning third grade stuff. I bought it from Singapore, at under $2 per workbook, and had it shipped surface mail. Now my fourth kid, who was a couple of years away from being born at the time, is begging to start Singapore Math and I'm kicking myself for not ordering a fourth copy of all the workbooks.

But that's the only time I've ever bought that far ahead. The price just couldn't be beat. Normally I purchase stuff about a week after we need something. But that's because our curriculum is child-led and I wait until they're asking for it before I buy something.
