Whoa...Target? - Page 2

As someone that has worked in the Natural Products industry for 15+ years I have to weigh in here saying that this is a double edged sword.

These brands got their start because of the support small family owned health food stores and even chains like Whole Foods who put their support in them. Mass chains have a lot more buying power and often lower profit margins which means they sell the products for less. I am sad too see so many brands crossing over. It really does put local health food stores out of business and these are the people that believed in this products long before Target and WalMart thought they were trendy.

Personally, while I do shop at Target I won't buy natural brands from them. I would rather support a locally owned health food store.

angelika13, I agree...I would rather buy at a locally owned store. Believe it or not, they do not exist here in San Antonio, Tx. It's really quite hilarious and sad how NOT green this area is. I'm quite the oddball here. I'm the only one in the grocery store carrying my reusable bags. A manager came over and thanked me one day for using them.

I normally go to Whole Foods, but I did scoop up some California Baby at Target because I've really really been wanting some.
