NIP at the CT state capitol

Just had to share...

My family took a tour of the state capitol yesterday. 14mo dd didn't make it for too long... had to take a break. I found a nice bench in what I thought was an out-of-the-way place (because she's easily distracted, not because I'm not willing to nurse anytime, anywhere)...

turned out it was RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE MAIN ELEVATORS!!!! :

Anyway, most people passed right by, a few made "beautiful baby" comments, and a Senator came up and said, "Thank you so much for breastfeeding your baby!" She introduced herself and went on about how wonderful breastfeeding is, and how good it was to see in public. I was floored. I thanked her for commenting, and said I appreciate our state laws supporting breastfeeding.

A senator!

That's awesome!

It makes me so happy to know our state has a wonderful senator like that! Do you know her name?

Is it too late for HER to run for president?

I had forgotten her name, so I did some checking online:

Her name is Diana Urban... and she's a representative, not a senator.

Think I'll send her a thank you note... I'm still smiling about the whole conversation!

YAY! Good for you and good for CT! I live in Branford, CT and your story made me so happy! I feel that CT is a pretty breastfeeding-friendly state...I've never had someone take issue with me NIP.

Thanks for sharing!
