how is a free sample of formula related to cloth diapers?

Hmm... Well I don't know! I just did a google search for "cloth diapers" and the first sponsored link that came up was an advert for enfamil. The header was cloth diapers, then it said underneath something like: "enfamil, the closest formula to breastmilk, click here for a free sample." o.0 How in the heck are they related? I clicked the link just to see what and if they had any info on cloth dipes, but nope, was just an advert page for enfamil.

How is that right? My DH was asking if there was some place that that could be reported, but I'm guessing that google doesn't really screen their sponsors. $$ talks?

Probably any search related to "diapers" returns formula ads. I haven't tried, but if you search "adult diapers" do you get formula ads as well? Or "monkey diapers"?

Odd. I can't seem to duplicate that, the sponsored results come up from companies like pampers or target. Were you using Google?

I was using google, but I'm from canada. It was enfamil.ca that came up. I wonder if that was the reason?

Perhaps the best use of formula is for washing cloth nappies? lmao
Maybe its really good at removing the stains?

"cloth diapers" : all ad-links are to cloth diaper companies, and diapers at Target or Ebay
"huggies" and then "pampers" : all ad-links are to places offering discounts or coupons for those products

Nope, no formula adverts. Probably Enfamil's advertising department only bought access to baby-related keywords during the middle of the night in this hemisphere. Sensible of them.

Oh, and they're related because if you're looking for cloth diapers you might be a potential customer.

I googled "monkey diapers" and not even 1 sponsored ad came up.

I googled Cloth Diapers too, to see if the formula thing came up for me too, since I am from Canada, and it didn't. I checked the whole list on the first page. I do remember it coming up when I searched cloth diapers before my first kid was born, and it bugged me as much as it is bugging you. :

Ann of Loxley, I liked your take on it. You made me laugh, thanks!

Hmm maybe I'm crazy. I should have taken a screenshot!

I tried it and just cloth diaper companies came up (bummis, fuzzi bunz, etc.)

On a side note, DH's parents have recently gotten a website up for their company (selling bamboo plants mostly) and I found out that every time someone clicks on those sponsored links, google charges the company 10 cents (or some other small amount). So, if you would have clicked on the link, enfamil would have been charged ten cents. I had thought of googling formula, and then clicking on all the links repeatedly, but decided that I wouldn't be able to do enough to do any damage to a big company like that.

sure.

Google’s approach to ads is similar to its approach to search results: the ads must deliver useful links, or the ads are removed.
* Ads must be relevant to your search.
* Ads must not intrude, distract, or annoy (no pop-up or flashy ads). [...]
Advertisers decide which queries their ads should match, and then Google decides on placement, i.e., which ads to show and in what order. Google determines placement by an auction; the auction not only considers what the advertiser will pay for the ad, but also its click-through rate, i.e., how often users click on the ad.

why don't you avoid it? use firefox with adblock.

I always have problems with my Flash player when I have adblock plus! I can't figure out how to solve it.

FWIW, I googled Monnkey Diapers and this is the sponsored link that came up: Monkey Diapers
Monkey Diapers Online.
Shop Target.com.
www.Target.com

And when you click on it, you get this.

Now, why can't your monkey just wear regular diapers with a little hole cut in the back for the tail?
