CDers - fleece?

So I have a handful of these very very thin fleece liners. We didn't use them for the longest time because they seemed so useless and we have nice, thick hemp liners that absorb a lot. For no apparent reason one day DP threw a fleece liner in on top of the normal liner. DD pees constantly, so we change her all the time, she hates having a wet diaper and is very vocal about it, so she pees, she complains, she gets changed. But she didn't complain. She didn't tell me she'd peed, so after awhile I stuck my finger in there to check, and it felt perfectly dry. Some time later, still no complaints, still feels dry. But it *smells* like pee. So I get her all opened up and the diaper is *soaked* (oops ) but apparently these fleece liners do not absorb *at all*. So the pee just went straight through, and the fleece was soft, fuzzy, and perfectly dry against her skin

Now I've been reserving them for over-night and car trips, and they just keep her skin soooooo perfect! She doesn't get wet at all They're amazing! I want to go get some fleece and make some more, but.. are these just strange, magical fleece liners of epic proportions? Will *all* fleece do this? Anyone have any experience with fleece and diapering or fleece and absorbency?

i can see why you weren't using them if you thought they were for absorbency! they jusy wick the moisture to the cloth and stay dry on baby's skin. yes any fleece will work but you don't want a big thick one. i also use butter suede for liners. they are great. my ds had a bad diaper rash and as soon as we started using the liners it cleared right up.

my mom bought me a yard of fleece at walmart : it's all that is near her, for $4 and i've been using that as a liner

I don't use it as liners because we haven't given up on EC yet and it works TOO well! I oughta know, since I use it for my mama cloth.

I have, however, sewn up a bunch of fleece diaper covers as a sort of "poor man's wool" and they're working beautifully! They breathe like wool but can be thrown in the washer and dryer and $3.99 a yard is a lot less than $24 a yard for wool.

i actually love fleece covers & HATE wool. i cant be bothered with the care that wool needs.. fleece is no fuss.

i love my sugar peas fleece covers

SO for fleece liners any thin fleece will work? And fleece covers breathe like wool??? I have wool, but it's bulky, and I would like more options.

pffffft, well! I feel just a little bit dumb now I guess I will be off to the fabric store, then! I had also been wondering what to use as a vegan alternative to wool for making diaper covers, so I got another question answered that I didn't even have to ask thanks!

We're having computer/networking "issues" but I'll probably have the new item listed tonight or tomorrow.

I could almost call that place "fun with fleece" atm.

i went to the fabric store to get some fleece and asked the lady for the thinnest and told her why and she went on this tyrade how fleece shouldn't be used in diapers, it's too hot and will overheat the baby, how I should use cotton instead. I explained that the diapers are cotton and I need the fleece to pull the moisture away, and she still would not sell me any. Finally she understood that I use cloth diapers and that I was only putting a piece of fleece in and so she gave me a swath of it for free to try it out. But golly! Then I got a whole bunch of unsolicited advise how the formula I use is too strong and I should water it down "to clean out her system".
I just wanted my fleece!
