Any thoughts on what you are getting your MW or birth helpers?

I am having a homebirth and am clueless as to what to get them.

As a midwife, I love it when clients go out of their way to acknowledge the help I give at a birth with a thoughtful gift. I love the homemade ones that I have gotten: painted picture frames, scarfs, blankets, t-shirts with cute sayings etc.. I also love starbucks gift cards Really anything you do I'm sure will be appreicated.

no advice, i've been racking my brains trying to come up with something too. there's a really awesome gift shop i want to check out, i'm hoping something will jump out at me and scream "this is the perfect gift for your m/w!!!"

I am giving my midwife one of my pregnant mama sculptures. I make them and sell them if anyone's interested. I also do custom ones (you get more of a color choice and can decide what shape of lady you'd like, etc). I only have one pregnant gal on etsy right now, but I'm working on some more this weekend. Normal prices are around $25-35.

Here's my site: www.bumbaduds.etsy.com

You can email me at bumbaduds@yahoo.com if you'd like a custom one.

I know it's a shameless plug, but there wasn't many responses so I thought I'd bump it too.

Since I'm a bit of a gardener and it's spring, I thought it would be fun to pot up some pretty flowers/herbs. That way it's something they can look at all summer (provided they water it!) and they can re-use the pot next year, but it's not something that sits around the house. I figure by the second post-partum visit I should have them done, it's too cold here still to put them together. *grr*

I was thinking of getting a basket and filling it with herbal teas, a cute mug, honey, raw sugar, maybe some cookies or tea biscuits, maybe even bake something from scratch, and adding a nice card. But haven't decided yet, what do mamas think of that idea?

Amaniesa, I think that would be lovely!

I might give something little & tangible and, in addition, a 'good gift' bike for a midwife in a developing country:

My MW has been in the business for years and I have a feeling this may actually be one gift that she hasn't yet received!
Does anybody know if this organization (Good Gifts) is legit? They are UK based. Too bad the US exchange rate sux, but...

They also offer another MW-oriented gift in case anyone is interested:

I've given gifts that my mws' whole family can enjoy, like movie passes and restaurant gcs because I know how attending births can take mws away from their families quite a bit. I usually include some homemade goodies with that.

I always have home-canned goodies in the basement, so I had planned to give a jar of something like jam or salsa.

Good thread.
I have a primary and a secondary midwife and 2 back-ups. I wonder if I should get something for just the primary, the 2 that will be at the birth or all 4?

I like the idea of potted plants. What about a GC for a massage?
