What would you do?

My last child was born in my van while my dh was driving to the hospital. I decided after that that I want to have a homebirth. Now I find out that there are no midwives in my area that attend homebirths. I could go to a birth center, but I don't feel that I would make it there and I would give birth in my car again. I think I would rather just stay home. I don't think there is any way that my dh will go for another UC. I kind of feel like I am stuck. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with a UC either even though I already had one. What would you do?

I think you should look into UC some more. Accidental UC and planned UC are very different animals, I assure you.

Are you sure there are no midwives? They often work "underground" and you have to seek them out. This is especially true if they aren't legal in your area. Check with the midwifery organization in your state. http://www.cfmidwifery.org/states/
If there are not and you are comfortable with UC, I'd say research and learn as much as possible and keep a positive attitude.

Are you seeing a midwife or OB right now? If you could find a MW, would your DH be okay with a HB?

My DH was nervous about HB and wasn't too sure he would go along with that, so I can just imagine how difficult getting him to agree with UC would be. Hopefully when you're near your birth time, he will agree with you. Pump him full of so much information that he'll agree just to shut you up!!

I agree with the others. Look into UC before you discount it. And look deeper for a midwife. I wanted a homebirth desperately with my second but gave up after not finding a midwife in the phone book. At about 4 months I got extremely desperate ready to have a UC, but I dug deeper and found my midwife. I called a midwife from a nearby city that I found online and she gave me this midwifes number.
Don't give up!
Good luck.
