Acrylics for wood?

I want to participate in my daughter's school fundraiser by painting up a wooden chair but I was wondering if I could use acrylics... What kind of varnish would you reccommend? (any cheap, DIY ideas are appreciated)

Sure, you can use any acrylic paint or any wood varnishes.

To make it last longer, I suggest using some sort of clear sealer on top of the dried acrylic paint to seal it up and protect it. Delta makes some that's pretty cheap.

You can even use flat latex house paint or spray paint, paint markers, permanant markers, or decopauge with a clear sealant over it.

I use acrylic on wood all the time. To seal, you can use a water based varnish. Craft/hobby stores have them right next to the acrylic craft paints (not expensive). You can do matte or gloss!

I've used the acrylic paint on wood, you could use the cheap clear spray coat over it.
