Dyeing with acid dyes--strong odors?

Do acid dyes have a strong chemical smell? I want to start dyeing yarn but I have only my kitchen to work in, not an outside space. I'm concerned about getting a massive headache or even an asthma attack from the smell.

Do any smells also get stronger when heated?

I haven't had any trouble with them--I use procion dyes and have heated them when working with silk. I do all of the work in my home.

I have lots of allergies and asthma and use the Jacquard acid dyes with no problem. I don't do huge batches (1 pasta pot size at a time), but no strong odor.

Not from the dyes, but your house will smell like vinegar (if you use it) and wet sheep. And you probably will get complaints, if you live with people who have not yet learnt that smelling like sheep is the best possible smell for a house

Cool, no smell! Thanks!

I have a wool carpet so I already have that sheepy smell going on--love that smell!
