safety of straws

In my attempts to cut back on plastics I completely forgot about the straws my son likes. He loves to drink out of straws and I usually buy them at whole foods. I've been trying to buy the foogo straw bottle, but they are sold out until May. Is there another brand?
Since I just weaned him 2 weeks ago, I don't want to take away his cups with straws too.
Does anyone know whether these are a safer plastic??
