System for trash free living?

We are going trash free this spring, the little waste we do have isn't worth paying the garbage company to haul away and now that we've found a fantastic local recycling company that takes just about everything we are almost there (just waiting for the spring thaw to clear out the burn barrell).

So my question is if you are trash free what is your system? Currently I have a bin outside the back door for recycling (plastic, cardboard, & metal) a paper bag under the sink behind the pull out trashcan for paper & junk mail, and then the pull out trash can for everything else. I currently use just a plastic container for compost stuff although our chickens eat most of that.
I can see when we make the final switch I'm going to need to change some things around as I will need something more airtight for the actual trash (plastic wrap from meats, bones since we have a lot of wild animals out here and i don't want to invite them by buring that stuff) and a bin for the burnables, the paper recycling and other recycling. I don't have room in the kitchen for bins so it's only what will fit under the sink.
So I'm looking to steal some ideas, what is your set up? I don't want to have to go outside everytime I use something.

No one has any ideas for me? None at all? I just can't wrap my brain around so many different trash can's or digging through a pile of trash! HELP!

How about a bag that hangs on the wall for your items you are putting outside right now? Or maybe some of those wall mount bins that are metal wire looking to keep those recyclables in? That way you wouldn't have to go outside.

That would be the only thing I see you maybe changin up. Keep your current trash can for things you will burn.

Good for you! We have a rather small utility room off of the kitchen. It's kind of a pain because I have a baby gate up to keep the toddler out of the recycling and garbage - the good side to that is that, because there isn't any through-traffic it doesn't matter that the waste storage is all kind of cluttered together. In the utility room we have a bin that I keep all of the recyclables in. Next to that is the "slop bucket" for any fruit/veggie type items that get fed to the chickens and the pigs (it would be used for compost if it wasn't for that), then there's the burnables...just a paper sack that we put anything non-recyclable but burnable into for the burn barrel...then there's the trash can. My son empties all but the recycling twice a day...slopping the animals, burning the burnables and storing the trash until we take trash to the dump. Between those 4 things we don't end up with anything getting too full. I need to take recycling maybe twice a month. HTH!
