Doc scheduled an induction for Monday morning. Hoping this little guy will decide to come all on his own sooner. Fortunately, my body is favorable for induction (sounds so strange to say that in my head) - the BH contractions I've been having have done a lot of the work already. Cervix is nearly 5cm dilated. Doc is insistent that cervidil is inappropriate in my case because it is most effective for cervical ripening (which, mine is already doing on its own). She started to talk pitocin. I talked her down to breaking waters and seeing how things go from there.

I keep talking to him and trying to encourage him to come along sooner. He's a stubborn little guy!!

Well poop! Sorry you have to go this route. Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but what prompted the induction? Look at it this way-if you don't go before then, at least you know you'll have a baby to snorgle soon!

I recently had a client who had an induction like what you describe. She resisted and held out until 41w2d when they agreed to start by breaking her waters rather than start with Pit. She was dilated to 3 cm when they did, and had her baby about 3 hours later! It was a really beautiful birth and went really fast at the end.

nikag...i don't know if i'm out of line to say this...but i think your reply was a bit brash. Sounds like there is something in your own being that you took out on that PP...

there's nothing wrong with being induced and you're not being judged (by me anyways), but its a valid question...why are you being induced? It totally could have changed but in the Due Date sticky it says April 9...he has plenty of time to come...Are you past due now? Is there something medical going on? its a fair question...


All that said, I truly hope you have a beautiful birth, its soooo amazing that you are 5cm already! that's craziness! I hope he comes before Monday, either way sounds like you're going to have a fast birth!

Are you assuming that I haven't considered every other possibility and decided on a course of action that is as close as I can come to a compromise without compromising the health and well being of my self and my child? Would I be shunned by the DDC if my answer were less than crunchy?

If you require an explanation before you offer your support, I suggest you review my post history for more details.

I've fought enough with my doc to convince her that I can be trusted to make my own decisions about how to proceed. I have no interest in convincing anyone else.

I'm not a damsel in distress.

I see women lectured quite often at MDC on their personal choices in circumstances where I think it was incredibly unwarranted and pushing the boundaries of condescension. I'd just like to stop it before it starts where my personal choices are concerned.

That being said, I thank you very much for your well wishes, mama!! I'm hoping for the best.

I agree that this happens and it frustrates me also. You have the right to keep your reasons private and ask merely for support. However, sometimes we encounter opportunities to educate others by sharing details. If you decide that this is one of those opportunities, you don't have take any criticism to heart.

You're right. I am WAAAAAAAY pissy and oversensitive today.

From what I've been reading on the boards lately, hopefully that's a GOOD sign.

Its really okay to feel that way at this point, I know I feel that way! I hope your little one decides to show up before Monday and if not that the induction goes very smoothly.

Thank you so very much. While I hate that you're going through it too (because I know how much it sucks), it's nice to know that I'm not alone, you know.

I think it's time for me to take a little mental break from MDC.

I'll try to keep updating and I'll try to do it without all the attitude.

Can find a little time to relax this evening? Maybe a nice bath or a good book? Vent to a friend over coffee? I know I am the worst one to be giving this advice as I can't seem to do it myself, but really I think it might help you. You need a little TLC before your baby arrives and it would probably put you in better spirits. Now I just need to take my own advice...
