Man, I'm getting old

Thread Starter
I just realized that people born in 1989--the year I started high school--will be 20 very soon.

When did this happen?

I feel your pain. My dd is 14 and reminds me pretty often that I'm old and NOT cool! And I'm a year older than you so. I remember feeling like people who were in their 30's were OLD and I mean OLD. Now that old lady is me and I don't feel THAT old.

I'll be 20 on April 10th! I feel so...like an infant!

You know I was watching Die Hard 4 a couple of weeks ago and it suddenly occured to me that I watched the first film 20 years ago... 1988.

20 years !!!!!!!

Ste is nearly 7 years younger than me and was born in 1980. Sometimes I will talk to him about something that came out in the late 70's, like Superman, Star Wars, Grease etc. And I have to remind myself that he wasn't even born then so won't remember the public reaction to those films Now that makes me feel old.

Peace

Just come and hang out with me. You will feel instantly young.

In 1989, I wasn't starting high school; I had already been out for ten years.

I've known one of my dearest friends for FORTY years.

I was just going to say..... in 1989 I graduated from high school, almost 20 years ago now, & the idea of that does kinda freak me out, tbh.

Whats scary to me, is that kids born in 1990 are about to be 18, like my brother. The kids i'm going to school with graduated h.s in 2006 or7, i'm getting old too fast.

Not long ago everyone in the world was old then it seemed like overnight everyone was young. It's amusing and a little scary when you notice television reporters, NFL players, leaders in the community, etc. are younger than you.

I just started a temp job at a credit union.

I am old enought to be my supervisor's mother

That was a wake up call for me, on how time has passed!!

You can't be old. I started high school in 1988 and I'm certainly not old. Aged to perfection

Ah, another timely thread.

I teach Environmental Science and our current chapter is Food Aid. I mentioned "We are the World" and the efforts to raise $ for Ethiopia and other subSaharan African nations.... and got blank stares. I had everyone born after 1985 in the class stand up... all but 4, in a class of 35. ... man, I felt OLD.

I hear ya...

Funny (ironic funny, not haha funny) story:
Just yesterday, some co-workers were talking about tv and American Idol came up. One of them said the worst week for her to watch was the "sing a song from the year you were born" week. She said they all started singing songs that she remembers dancing and drinking to in COLLEGE! That was when we all had that "Man, I'm old" feeling!

1989? Cripes....High school was a distant memory by then. LOL. A couple Dh and I went to college with and stood up at their wedding just became grandparents this week! Yowza..NOW I feel old.

I graduated high school almost 8 years ago, and I seriously still feel like I'm 13 on the inside. I often think, "Who decided I was capable of being an adult?!" What's really scary is wondering if your parents felt the same way when you were little, and I'm sure they did.

This is why we had our daughter late in life...kids make you feel old, I think. I'll be 35 in two weeks and DH is 40. At his 20 year hs reunion three years ago there were a couple grandparents. Yikes!! At least I know I won't be a grandma until I'm at least 50!!! I better not be one b4 then!

Remember when Chelsea Clinton was that shy, awkward kid in the White House? She's 28!
